Lovely place to stay, but booking.com made an embarrasing mistake with the booking

Lovely and relaxing place to stay. Elegant. Beautfiul grounds and places for walks. Hotel is tastefully furnished.

Not the hotel's fault but booking.com - the room was only booked for one person instead of two. made for an embarrasing discussion at check out. Also, my friends had to pay kroner 450 extra.

Disappointing

The surroundings and buildings etc. are beautiful, it is so wonderful to drive there and see all the animals etc.

Eventhough this is a high priced hotel and room, there is no water in the rooms - only towels for a single bath, only capsules to making one cup of coffee and worst of all the room where not at all clean. I found long hairs (definitely not mine on the floor and on the bed). They offered me to switch rooms, but no discounts or no other assistance.

Definitely coming back

If you want to treat yourself, this is the place to do it. The castle was stunning as well as the room. The food was delicious, and the location and surroundings were like from a movie. Very friendly staff too! I'm definitely coming back. It's more than worth it.

GREAT place to spend a very nice time with your partner

Everything was just spot on of what we expected. The castle itself was wonderful, the big restaurant placed in the renovated barn.., just great. The dinner was exquisite.., local specialties implemented in just the right way was adding to the flavor. Breakfast was delicious in nice and quiet surroundings. The staff everywhere was very service minded and helpful. We were looking for a quiet and nice location with indulgence for our senses, we certainly got what we were looking for THANK YOU :-)

A very attractive and clean but a couple of niggles

it was very clean, nice green surroundings, staff were generally very nice and helpful. The TV had some films in English which was good for us. Though talked over in Danish we could hear just enough to follow the narrative. The wine we had was good. The food was nice, one or two items very good eg the parsley dressing on the salad and the conserve at breakfast were excellent. Our room was quite spacious and generally well equipped.

The evening menu was very limited, and unnecessarily so, we felt. There were no starters, or even olives or nuts pre main. We thought there could have been at least one main option with eg rice or potato, not just three choices all with the same salad. And the three options all seemed to be a tad heavy on the salt. So we enjoyed the salmon and salad the first night, but the vegetable quiche and the croque monsieur the following night, not quite so much. They seemed a bit heavy. For dessert there was only apple pie and creme fraiche, not even a cheese or ice cream option. The only other thing we (well my husband) disliked was after the water ran cold at the end of our stay. we told reception about it as we paid the bill amd she told us we should have reported it straightaway. But who wants workmen in their room at 8am? We explained this. But she repeated what she had said. a brief apology would have been nicer. Also, check online prices. we found it cheaper than booking direct.

12 Hours stop I’d avoid now.

Great location and position. i was traveling from Milan to Oslo by car, the hotel is few minutes from the highway

don’t get room 323! between entrance doors of stables rooms, entrance of restaurant and depot room. after 12 hrs drive didn’t sleep as you could feel the wall’s shaking after each door slam. almost 350 EUR for 12 hours stay

Did not meet expectations.

We loved the location and the decoration of the renovated rooms.

The staff wasn’t very friendly. We got married in Christiansfeld during our stay and made sure to let the hotel know in advance but no special efforts were made not even a congratulations or a note or rose petals. The window in the hotel room was very small and looked out on some construction tents instead of the beautiful surroundings. Also the towels were kind of small and there were no slippers and bathrobes. All in all we wouldn’t come back here.

It’s at an enchanting place with a beautifully stretched shoreline and various walking paths into the woods. Impressive renovation design work of the rooms with heated floors.
