The hotel was very comfortable, in a central location for exploring the old town.

The price represented value for money with breakfast included. It was ideally located being in the old town and a few minutes away from the train station. It was a pleasant room with decorative features and tea and coffee making facilities.

Very warm welcome on arrival, it’s nice when a hotel is expecting you. I had reserved a parking space at the front of the property which was there on arrival. Breakfast was very good with a wide choice of continental options, the fresh and warm croissant was great. The whole of the hotel was clean and tidy, they clearly take pride in the building.

Bathroom is very compact, I would rather do without the bidet and have more space.

There is room for improvement

The location was the best thing about Hotel Cappello. Very central, yet on a quiet side street, close to shops and restaurants. Not far from the train and bus station, which is ideal for those who, like me, rely on public transportation. Belluno is a good base for day trips. Cortina is the most glamorous in the area, but there are many more destinations (Alleghe, Pieve di Cadore, Falcade) to mention just a few. The hotel staff was polite and helpful and the room was clean.

I had some issues with the air conditioning system. The first room assigned to me was unbearably warm, so they moved me to another room, which was still uncomfortable. My last day the problem was fixed, so at least my last night in Belluno was all right. But the night before leaving the safe wouldn't open. It was probably the battery. Again someone came and the problem was fixed, but it added some stress, since my passeport was in it. A tip to summer travelers: make sure the air conditioning is on and working. I had requested an early morning wake up call but nobody called. One more thing : one of the receptionists (the only woman) was wearing a surgical mask. Besides the fact that it made communication difficult, and I'm fluent in Italian, I couldn't help wondering if she was sick or the hotel was hosting sick people. I don't think I would go back to this hotel.

Heart of the Dolomites

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The owner insisted I have some wine and grappa at the hotel bar for my birthday and everyone kept calling me "big boss" because I was paying the bill. I felt like a big shot. You will be right in the heart of the city, close to the park, shops and pharmacy. There is a very nice restaurant next door with great food and wine. The town has a grocery store called "A and O" which is less than 3 minutes away, across the main square. Hotel staff were able to arrange a taxi tour of the countryside for an hour on a Sunday, no less, for a family of 7 for less than 100 euro. Bonus, we got to see a mountain bike race start and finish on main street while enjoying drinks, entertainment and snacks at the corner coffee shop. I love the atmosphere of this town.

The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the train station and is difficult to locate but with Google maps "live view", anything is possible.

Charming, comfortable, easy

Our room was beautiful and charming, clean and spacious. We loved the feel of the hotel--old, historic, comfortable! And it's right in the center of Belluno, which makes everything easily accessible.

Great location right in the heart of Belluno, excellent restaurant beside the hotel. Free parking in the court yard. Comfortable bed.

The bathroom was very small, and the shower was right beside the toilet with a cloth curtain that stuck to you while showering. Needs remodelling and removal of bidet to increase the shower space.

City center, 10 min walk from Central Station. Good price for city centre, especially if you book some weeks ahead.

Some furniture especially in the halls is very old.
