The house was clean and functional, though there was a persistent sewer gas smell in the bathroom even with the windows open the whole time. The mattresses are rock hard like most of Italy, and you can hear sounds from the neighbors echo throughout, though the windows are excellent at sealing out exterior noise. The absolute bare essentials are provided (1 set of towels, 1 roll of toilet paper), but everything else is extra. They are clear about this in the ad, but it feels like you’re being nickel-and-dimed and buying my own toilet paper and paying the electric bill took away from the charm. Heating is very expensive if you’re in a season that needs that. Basic cookware is provided. They mention the parking is for small cars only, but any rental car will be too big. We had a Renault Twingo that fit with millimeters to spare but the road and driveway are at extreme angles and after one night in the driveway, we opted to park elsewhere. There is a small lot by the church and some street parking, but it is nearly always full. Locals seem to make their own spaces wherever they want, but we got a ticket (maybe, it was a crude piece of paper that got wet in the rain) parking with others overnight. There are no other parking options anywhere in the area. There is a bus route from the church that would be a better option.

The property was great. Totally authentic as to a village setting. The lack of parking at property made it a challenge to be addressed. The process of getting a parking pass for local lot was too complicated, and more expensive than stated in description. The incline down to/up from the property requires someone to be in good health/strong for making the trek anytime they leave if no car small enough to make it through. Air conditioning cost could be approximated for guests to understand the choice, The sounds of the immediate locale are something to consider if you are expecting a quiet location. Looking back it will be a good experience because of the authenticity presented. Thank you to the owner (who did not speak our language, English) for trying to get us settled in upon arrival which was later than planned. We will always remember our time in Torca!

This home was clean, the Owner was helpful and responsive. The problem here is that it is VERY high in the mountain, and down a steep and narrow street. Unless you are renting a small car, pass on this one. The house is hard to get to, and luggage down the hill is a killer. A taxi to the house was 75.00 each way. It became very costly, the house is cute, but too remote. However, if you are renting a car of your own, and it is small enough to get your luggage to the house, then that changes the equation. If you are staying a while and need solitude, this could work. Although, the beds were very, very firm and quite uncomfortable.
