Eliathos Hillside Retreat

The pool was nice and gave good views of the countryside. A cat and her kittens were daily visitors which delighted my girls. Apartment was naturally cool even without air con. Comfy beds and sofa. Daily cleaning.

The kitchen was ill equipped - eg I had to ask for kitchen cloths, there were no oven gloves, no ice cube tray, salt, pepper or other basics - we didn’t feel able to cook anything but pasta and heat pizza. The bin area smelled or old food. The apartment was pretty dark and felt dingy, though to be fair it was made clear it is lower ground floor. Lots of mosquitoes. Mosquito screens were broken on arrival, though we did get them to fix them. The drive to the town is on very narrow roads so not great with larger cars - we didn’t want to try it at night. It’s a steep walk without pavements.

We had a wonderful stay at Eliathos Hillside Retreat! Beautiful peaceful surroundings, stunning views, comfortable rooms, and great pool. A perfect place to relax and enjoy the scenery—highly recommended!

Could benefut from additional services, i.e. pool bar.

Friendly and informal atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent and all the staff went out of their way to help. Excellent place. Eliathos is in a beautiful and quiet area. It has a lovely pool and gardens full of fruit trees. A great place to relax. The town of Archanes is a 15 minute walk and has a great and authentic atmosphere and good places to eat and drink.

Everything was good or excellent

Two highlights saved our trip. First, Audrey provided nothing less than exceptional, first-class support and made our visit special. Second, we loved the traditional Cretan village nearby. The hospitable locals, great restaurants, and excellent cafes made our evenings wonderful.

Eliathos Hillside Retreat offers beautiful grounds and breathtaking hillside views, but the overall experience fell short of our expectations. Our apartment highly disappointed us. The online photos misled us into expecting a nice porch, but the resort put us in a dark, basement room with zero romantic ambiance. My hats off to their photographer! The layout also needs improvement. Guests must dodge cars and maintenance vehicles because management placed the parking lot in the back rather than making the resort a pedestrian-only zone. The pool sits in the back but lacks any real appeal. The maintenance shed sits right next to it, meaning loud conversations, tool noise, and cigarette smoke ruined my attempts to swim. Furthermore, the resort lacks a dedicated seating area for relaxing and enjoying the scenery. The breakfast nook feels like an afterthought built into a hallway, and the kitchen serves the same food every single day. They really need to change up the menu.
