If location and view are all that matter, then this hotel might still work. The view is nice and the location does most of the work. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.
The hotel itself is old, dirty, and clearly overdue for renovation. The so-called “deluxe room” is anything but deluxe, with mold, stains, ripped furniture, and a general feeling of neglect. The photos shown online are very generous and do not reflect reality. For the price charged, this is simply unacceptable. Before arriving, I asked whether parking was available on the hotel property and was told yes. In reality, you park in front of other cars and are expected to leave your key at reception so staff can move your car around, which is odd at best. The restaurant staff was friendly and warm, something that unfortunately cannot be said about the reception. Overall, a great location and view paired with an overpriced and disappointing hotel experience.

Fabulous location right on the edge of the lake. We stayed in a suite with lake view. The decor is a little tired, the lighting a little odd, but the bed is huge and comfortable and a fabulous bath.
The mosquitos were crazy - but that’s not the hotels fault! The room was a little tired, we struggled to get any acceptable lighting.

Aesthetically from the back of the hotel the place is pretty - but beware. It is rare I take the time to leave a bad review but this is worth of one.
We stayed at Hotel Aurora in Sermione at the start of October. We were not at all happy with our room and asked to change to a different room as soon as we arrived. We were told we could do that but it had to be ‘tomorrow’ so we agreed. When tomorrow came we asked again to change rooms and we were told ‘tomorrow’. As we were only staying for 3 nights this was pointless. It meant we lived out of our suitcase the whole time as we thought we would be moving rooms. We spoke with 3 different members of reception staff and none of them were concerned or questioned our reason for requesting to move room from room number 001 - I believe it is because they know it is a bad room. A ‘deluxe room with a view’ was not what we had. Half of the window looks onto the lake if you stand right in the corner of the room and lean around to view it. The other half of the window looks onto the fire exit steps. The balcony doors have a sign on them that says do not open due to flies and bugs. However our balcony door did not completely close and inevitably we had bugs in the room. On the last morning before check out we returned to the room to find the patio door was wide open? We hope it was due to next door slamming their door or something but we were very confused. The room is dark and feels like a dungeon because of the window situation. The bathroom was damp and clammy because there are no windows there. The air con appears to work on the unit itself however the room stays warm and clammy as no cold air blows out. It does not function properly. There is nowhere for the steam from the bathroom to escape. Next issue is breakfast which is a very poor offering. Flies and bugs are a real problem in the area however the food remains uncovered on the buffet so the cheese and meats and fruit often had flies and even wasps on them. We stuck with toast and butter every morning and a coffee from the machine.

The location of the hotel was excellent and well located for access to the town and boats for visiting other villages. The staff were very good and always willing to help which was a special occasion, making the holiday a memorable one.
The restaurant and food were excellent including the continental breakfast which provided a wide selection of choices.

Lovely lake view, free parking, balcony & friendly staff
Hotel could really do with a paint freshen up and a good clean. Room was dusty and floor was dirty and generally quite run down. Poor choice for breakfast & very uncomfortable bed.

Everything was perfect! The hotel is beautiful, with an excellent location. Breakfast was very good, served on a stunning terrace right by the lake. The staff were kind and welcoming, the room was lovely, and the bed extremely comfortable. We truly enjoyed every moment of our stay and highly recommend this place to everyone. The castle is also nearby — just about a 15-minute easy walk.
Everything was excellent!

Room was a bit small, expected more from luxury but overall it was fine just to sleep and visit lago di garda. staff was okay. breakfast was good.
The room was stuffy.

The view from the back of the hotel as it was lake side.
Our room being at the front of the hotel facing the road. Traffic noise all night long disrupting sleep. Asked to be moved to a room lake side, but was told no rooms available.

Location excellent, easy walking to Centro Storico and lakeside position. Continental breakfast good, lots of options. Well maintained gardens overlooking lake, sun beds available. Parking available although limited (staff move cars around).
Room was small for a deluxe booking, bathroom very small. Room faced hotel front next to main road, very noisy with pedestrian and motor traffic constantly. Room was very dark due to dark furniture and decor. One pillow/very flat and uncomfortable.

Chose Hotel Aurora for its location on the lake and proximity to historic Sirmione with water tours and ferries as we were reliant on public transport on this holiday.
Our ensuite room had a great view across Lake Garda with a small balcony. The room was clean with a generous, comfortable bed and water provided in the mini bar.
Breakfast was a varied buffet of cereals, pastries, yogurt, fresh fruit and savouries as per continental breakfast, served in the adjacent hotel restaurant.
The hotel restaurant also served lunch and evening meals - with an emphasis on fresh local fish, and a good selection of the regions wines. Meals could be enjoyed on the terrace, weather permitting. But stunning lakeside views were to be had regardless!
The historic old town of Sirmione was a 10-12 minute walk away, with great eateries, cafés, Scaliger castle and walks along the peninsula to the Grotte di Catullo.
Desenzano was well worth a visit, and only 20 minutes across the lake. Malcesine took about 1.5hrs on the ferry (only running weekends at the time of our stay).
The room was modern, clean and well serviced, but aesthetically uninspiring.
A high vaulted ceiling, dark brown cross beams, dark brown bedhead/surround and drawer unit, bright orange wardrobe, together with a wall of full length heavy curtains, nets, and an industrial wire ceiling spotlight, gave a rather stark appearance.
The bedside lights were no good for reading, as they were integral to the bedhead surround (inset like car headlights). So they led the way to the ensuite, but were blinding on the walk back to the bed!
Whilst there was bottled water in the mini bar, there were no tea/coffee making facilities. It would have been preferable not to have to get ready and visit the restaurant for that first hot drink of the day, as it curbed the enjoyment of the stay.
All that said, it's just a personal preference on creature comforts and one size doesn't fit all.
The convenient location, in-house restaurant and cleanliness contributed to a lovely experience of Lake Garda, which is stunning in any direction!!

Although we had an inland looking room it was still very attractive and early morning and late evening we were serenaded by Blackbird song. Something I miss living in Malta.
The hotel is located on the banks of Largo de Garda with quite gardens overlooking the lake.
The restaurant is very good for fish dishes.
The room was a little hot and air-conditioning was not working (room 205). We did not complain.
The room was not equipped for tea and coffee making which we always expect in hotel rooms. A convenience we require. However the hotel immediately responded when we mentioned this to them and immediately provided the service we required.
Room was a little small.

The hotel definitely exceeded out expectations with the design, cleanliness, and friendliness of the staff.
There hotel doesn’t have enough parking, therefore it was hard to find a spot, tricky to park, and we often got blocked in by other cars. Also the breakfast lacked fresh fruit and hot food (no scrambled eggs, bacon, etc)

Location was great. Lakeside on the Sirmione peninsula and close to the castle and bars and restaurants. A 20-30mins walk to the bus stop that takes you to Verona or Brescia.
Staff were always nice and friendly and the rooms were clean and well presented.
The breakfast buffet was always well stocked with a nice selection of items.
Would stay there again.
I thought the restaurant was a little overpriced for the options that were given and it would have been nice for there to be more of a bar area at the hotel/restaurant for guests to relax in.
I can't comment on the sun loungers or the outside area as unfortunately the weather wasn't that good but everything looked nice.

the location, the breakfast was excellent ,on the lake view, attached restaurant, close walk to the center of Seminole l, kind staff
our room was above the restaurant and it was very noisy so it was unpleasant to sit at the balcony, the room was old and the walls got decayed a bit, small bathtub, problematic air contidioning, small parking lot so we had to give our car key to the staff
4.0 / 10.0
The location was ideal - the closer to the castle the busier it was.
The room had no lighting whatsoever - literally was using phone lights to see where anything was which was a tad annoying.
The room was constantly hot because the air-conditioning would turn off after 2 minutes of turning it on - we didn't realise we needed to ask reception to turn on the unit from downstairs.
I did mention that the location was good - but one of the downfalls was also the location. As it was outside the town centre, most that stayed there had cars so parking was hard and we were blocked in a couple of times or blocking in guests. This overall wasn't an issue because the reception staff would keep a hold of keys for those cars which were blocking on cars; on checkout we asked for our car keys and it wasn't in our assigned room box but in the drawer and then when we walked out to the main car park the car was nowhere to be seen. Once we went back to ask, the receptionist had to call her colleague to check the car location, when he confirmed it was in the second car park.
This lack of organisation really was not expected.
In addition to the above the pillows were non-existent, I got a rash from the shower gel (which was dermatologically tested) and the TV didn't work.

Breakfast was good, room was clean.
The room was a bit small, the bathroom in particular. Also there is not enough parking, so you must leave your car keys at the reception.

Room waa top class. Very stylish and large, balcony views stunning. My room had 2 balconies (many of the rooms do).
Loved the fact I could use the bathroom and go straight into the lake to swim.
Great location, short walk 20 min stroll (no hills/steps) to the old town.
I'd like to return to same place and hotel one day soon.
No english tea and cofee and milk in room just complimentary herbal teas and bottled water (which were still nice touches).

Amazing location, very good restaurant right near, quiet, great breakfast, sun chairs right in front of the terrace door.
Outside area was a bit dirty because of the spider webs, but it is an issue in the whole area. The inside was very clean. The room was cleaned daily.
