A place to sleep, good for walkers, the price does not correspond to the service

The description is very exaggerated. The private beach consists of loungers placed on a gravel surface. The beach next to the property is very dangerous for swimming and walking. Wooden posts (not just one, but dozens) are hidden beneath the water's surface. To safely enter the water, you have to walk about 300-400 meters. Transportation from the port costs 200 baht, and from the resort 1,000 baht. I don't like being ripped off. I received this offer via email, and since this was my third visit to the island, I didn't fall for it. A car with a driver for the whole day costs 1,000 baht. This alone leaves a bad taste and destroys trust. I understand that you have to earn it, but 5 times? Breakfast is available a la carte, but this information is not provided upon booking. They probably did this because of the costs and the small number of guests, but in my opinion, at least coffee and tea should be served from a heater, especially since the price for an overnight stay is higher than in a 4-star hotel. You can't pay at the bar; the staff does their best to write down the cottage number. Customers lose track of how much everything cost. Another pitfall: the staff is very pushy, following guests around, loudly asking if everything is okay, if they need something to eat or drink, or if they need a taxi. It can get a bit confusing if someone is reading a book, for example. The cottages are nice, but the location and prices are poor. We've been to Lanta three times and stayed in a dozen hotels, so we have something to compare it to. This place is more for scouts who like to walk far to the beach, as the one near the cottage is unsafe to swimming.

Relaxing timeon the beach

Loved the beach front location with natural shade. The chalets were set in a beautiful natural garden/forest environment. Loved to see the ever changing beach scenery as the tides revealed then covered the rocks. We enjoyed the cozy air conditioned rooms. The restuarant had excellent food and services. We stayed 9 days and had plenty of other restuarant options close by.

Loved the location. Nice rooms and loved the outdoor bathroom experience.Great place to have a drink and watch the sunset.

We have to say the staff are fabulous. Maprang is always happy and helpful arranging and recommending trips to Ko Rah and Lanta old town. Also in standing our transfer back to Krabi airport. Kim and Bung s thanks for looking after our drinks and food needs on the beach - because that is exactly where the bar is. The room was comfortable and clean and we always had bottle water too. Service with a smile, a filling breakfast and lovely setting with a pretty garden and lovely view Of long beach. I would love to come back.

The beach huts are just amazing. Anazing location right on the beach. All the staff are amazingly kind and helpful. The food was A+ every single meal. Rooms have an outside shower which is just the best. Rooms are clean and the bed was the comfiest I’ve slept in Thailand. They go over and above for you and it really was a special stay.

Luxury bungalows on the beach with exceptional personal service.

We stayed for 7 nights and this place was the highlight of our trip! (we have been to Thailand 6 times before and Koh Lanta twice before). This place is great! We wanted the beach bungalow experience, but more on the luxury end. Bungalows: great - they are concrete with modern facilities, bathroom, bed is good, soap/lotions are good. Management: Maprang the manager is exceptional. She was always happy to greet us with good service and was quick to recommend various outings/activities and arranged a scooter. Also noted the owner was around most nights, which shows how well managed the place is. Breakfast: Very good and a la carte where you choose what you like. Bar/Restaurant: Great food - the bar manager is wonderful and even helped with cream/ice when I injured my foot from doing Muay Thai! Shuttle: Driver is great and the car is a Honda Accord, which is great vs. most people driving a truck or Corolla! Location at the south end of Long Beach is good for beach walks and swimming. I would highly recommend this place and we hope to go back next year and stay longer. The main thing is because it is a smaller resort, you really get exceptional service. The grounds are also well landscaped (we had a Banyan Tree right outside our bungalow) and the tree cover keeps the temperatures down.

We’ll be back

Attention to detail was exceptional. Every staff member was so friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The gardens were beautiful and well maintained. The whole resort was so tranquil and it was impossible to not relax. We celebrated my birthday while there and the staff ensured it was a memorable birthday. Food and beverages were also excellent - highlights were the mango shake, the mojitos and the spicy dishes on the menu- pet mak!

The quiet end of Long Beach

The only noise is nature Shady bungalows. Very chilled atmosphere Friendly, smiley staff Went to see Thai Boxing 7-11 is not far away. Great little street food set up immediately to the right of 7/11. Walk to Secret/Beautiful beach then walk back along the beach to Nautilus at low tide. Main Long Beach is a few minutes walk away - rocky beach to navigate to get there but very easy. Wifi speed 130 by the loungers!

They do an excellent job here. The only suggestion would be a guest drinking water dispenser that we have seen elsewhere.

Overall while the service was friendly the overall value for money was extremely poor. Breakfast choice was fairly limit

Service staff was friendly. Arranging scooters was easy via the hotel.

Value for money was very poor - my recommendation would be to either pay a 20% up price for the Layana hotel or pay 80% less for a hotel with similar facilities. Facilities were overall poor/rundown in the accommodation. The curtain rail fell down, a bedside lamp didn’t work upon arrival, and the air conditioning needed repairing one evening. Breakfast was also not as versatile as other hotels. We assume the high price tag is related to the location (‘right on the beach’), but as the beach is fairly rocky anyway, we’d walk/drive to another beach about 50-150m down the road. Alternatively the price tag may be justified by the hotel due to the ‘adults only’ tag, but if that’s what you’re after, simply choose a hotel that doesn’t have a pool. We found that implied fewer children by default. When we rented scooters via the hotel and tried to negotiate the price, they said it wasn’t possible as they didn’t manage the service. However when we changed hotel after our 6 night stay, they did not allow us to carry over the scooters as then (all of a sudden) it was managed by them and linked to our staying there.

Beautiful location; a real gem.

This place is wonderful. It’s location is perfect, it feels secluded though there’s access to all services. The sounds of nature add a lovely, relaxed ambience. The staff are lovely, always smiling, always helpful, always busy! The bed was comfortable and the bungalow was clean and private. The daily water delivery was nice. Breakfast was a highlight of each day. The daily fruit platter was a delight. The coffee was good. We will definitely return!

If we are being picky, a larger breakfast menu selection would be an added bonus but that is probably because we stayed a while and we are struggling to think of anything that this place could do better! We think many people just stay a couple of nights then move on so it’s not something that is on most peoples radar.

Was wonderful and we would come back

It was in a beautiful location and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. We had a free upgrade and welcome drinks. They helped us sort an affordable taxi to the ferry the following morning too. The room was spacious and clean and the bed was very comfy. It is a cabin vibe but they had nets and we didn’t find any bug/insect problems.

The trip of our dreams!

I travel a lot with my SO, we’ve stayed at many hotels but we can honestly say that the Nautilus is our favourite. We originally intended on staying for a night before moving on to another island but we fell in love with the room, the staff, and the resort. The hotel is set on the beach, with several islands visible in the distance on a clear day. The water is crystal clear and there is a tidal pool for those who are interested in spotting some nature (like us). The hotel has a bar on the beach which serves cocktails and some delicious food - the Pad Thai is excellent! There are deck chairs and sun loungers as well as sit down tables. In the evening there is a charcoal barbecue and sometimes fire spinning on the beach! The hotel is extremely helpful, they have scooters and a tuk tuk available and go above and beyond to help plan and arrange excursions. We went on a 2 island snorkelling trip which was incredible! The hotel called the bank without us asking them to, to ensure that we could pay by card to make our lives easier. Finally, I’d like to mention the staff. The hotel has a family-run-feel, the staff are friendly, happy and always greet you with a smile. They were one of the highlights of our trip and we can’t wait to come back to see them again. A short walk along the seafront you find long beach, there are lots of resorts and lots of people. The nautilus hotel provided us with a quiet, secluded, child-free slice of paradise. We’ll now return home and endure our post-holiday blues but we’ll be back!
