Suzukiya Ryokan

We loved staying here, we wish we could have stayed longer. This would be our favorite place in this entire trip. It is in a super quiet surroundings with nature all around. The outdoor onsen was perfect, soaking while watching the snow fall and the forest in the distance: it was like heaven. The normal indoor public baths were also a nice size. The staff are very helpful and attentive. While we were checking in they asked if we plan to visit Zao Fox Village and told us we probably won't be able to get into the bus since it always gets full. And they booked a taxi for us. We cannot thank them enough for doing that. Their attention to detail while showing us around the hotel and serving us our meal was exceptional as well. The vending machines inside the hotel are very handy and good variety. One I have to say which is a personal preference, if traditional japanese food is not your cup of tea it will be a bit tricky. The food they serve is very fresh and good quality but unfortunately did not suit our palate. We did our best to eat as much as we could since wasting food is a no-go for us. Just something to keep in mind while staying here, especially since the small cafe in the neighborhood doesn't always open. The beds were the most comfortable things. We really enjoyed the tatami flooring and the futons, it was so comfortable it's hard to get out of bed. If we go back to this area we would love to stay here again.

The staff were exceptional, to the point where I feel a 10 is not a high enough rating. Everyone was amazing and understanding, even with the slight language barrier. The facilities were wonderful and as a return guest, I can guarantee that any future visit I make to the area, I will be certain to stay at this property again.
