Villa Valo

Wow! Villa Valo was magnificent!! A perfect, quiet break. The Villa has 5 beautiful large bedrooms-3 of which have en suite and all of which have balcony or pool access. The hidden ‘cave’ with ping pong was a great hit with teenage boys but the real star is the view which even the pictures don’t do justice. The Villa is immaculate and everything is provided. It is a real home away from home. So peaceful and just a few minutes from the old town and Bay Area. Vesa and Ramazan could not be more welcoming or helpful. TV, Apple TV, PlayStation (not that you’ll want to be indoors) excellent air con throughout. Easily could take two or three families so as a family of four we were spoilt for space and choice. Plenty of sun beds, seats, cutlery and kitchenware for twice as many people. Local supermarket delivers to the door in just a few minutes (just WhatsApp what you need) and cabs to and from the bay are a flat fee of 220tl (around £5). Comfortable, beautifully finished, modern and better than I had even hoped! A real diamond!

The only downsides are not to do with the property. Villa Valo is on an extremely steep hill with no pavements and very dusty, slippery slopes. My family and I are fit and active but the walk down to town saw us fall several times (not badly thankfully) but we only did the walk back twice despite having gymnasts and athletes in the family it was just dangerous and far to hard in the heat. So cabs were easier and so cheap and available. If you did decide to walk it’s less than ten terrifying minutes down but quite a bit longer going back (you’ll see what I mean if you try it!) The only other negative (other than Turkeys lack of infrastructure for rubbish, building regulations, road markings, safety and rights-of-way which we tend to think of as Turkeys charm 😂😁) was the cost. Turkey has always been a cheaper holiday but even with the excellent exchange rate (54 tl to the pound) it was ridiculously expensive. For example, 3 ice creams cost us over £20 and a single fry up (not that we ate them) was over £22 in the Bay Area. Cocktails regularly over £10 each and meals for 4 around £120-150 at most restaurants. That said, the price is reflected in the quality and we didn’t have a single bad meal - much better than in other Turkish destinations we have been to. There are cheaper/better options just up the hill in some of the more traditional Turkish places and supermarkets which were quarter of the price (Ozi’s pide was exceptional food and value and welcome)

Superb location with great views. The set up felt very private although there were other places close by. Bedrooms all had a sea view. Ambience outside around the pool excellent. Nice to have the table tennis. Ideal place for our family get together.

only a small thing but we left the barbecue cleaner than we found it.
