Kotohira Riverside Hotel

建築比較舊，但依然維持得非常乾淨，服務員超級好，下次去還會再住！超級喜歡！還包早餐，超近參拜道，地理位置完美，跟車站距離也超近，長頭髮建議自備吹風機

部屋がシンプル、無駄な物がない。

Among the many hotels in the small town of Kotohira, Kotohira Riverside Hotel is one of the architecturally more pleasing ones, plus it is located on the bank of the river flowing lazily through the town. The rooms have view into the hills and over parts of the town (although some of the ugly hotel blocks or the nearby love hotel in pink clearly do not count among the three famous views of Japan ;-) ). The location is quiet, despite its proximity to the quaint Kotoden Kotohira train station and the JR Kotohira station, which is slightly farther away. Within a few minutes by foot, there are many restaurants as well as the covered shopping district. Also close by is the start of the stairway to Kenpira-san, the Shinto shrine that made Kotohira a famous place for pilgrims. Check-in was smooth, with very friendly and helpful staff (speaking a tiny amount of Japanese helps...). I got a spacious, lovingly decorated room with river view, a very comfortable bed, a good desk and all the usual amenities. The hotel being of moderate size, the breakfast buffet was not lavish, but still with a wide choice of tasty dishes – mostly Japanese, but also with bread, pastry, cereals, fruit etc. catering to Western palates. My stay was on one of the busiest weekends of summer (it was very hard to find lodging at all). Despite this, the price was moderate, making this hotel very good value for the money.

The hotel has been in operation for a while, so some of the facilities show their years despite good maintenance. For my taste, however, this is more than weighed up by the friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
