Our stay at Diamonds Athuruga Maldives Resort & Spa truly lived up to its 5-star reputation — it did not disappoint.
The Junior Suite was absolute perfection. The view from our decking was breathtaking, and having the sea just three steps from our balcony felt like a dream come true.
The food was of outstanding quality, with a fabulous variety each evening that made every meal something to look forward to. A special mention must go to our waiter, Rasheed, who was exceptional throughout our stay. His attention to detail and level of service were truly 5-star. He looked after us at every meal; breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including two celebration gala nights, and he absolutely made our dining experience first-class.
The excursions we attended — reef snorkelling, the dolphin trip, and the whale shark excursion were all run very professionally. We felt safe, well cared for, and still had plenty of fun throughout.
The welcome team were also outstanding. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they always took the time to check in with us and ensure everything was going well. A special mention to Lea, who was a very professional and friendly presence throughout our stay.
We had an incredible experience and are already looking forward to returning next year!

Calm place if you just need to relax and restart. No loud parties, not overcrowded.
Special thanks to the staff, who made their best for us to feel comfortable after we had our baggage lost, with all usual stuff we required for our infant. That was really nice to get diapers and toys delivered to our villa! The baby cot was big and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was simple, Italian cuisine mostly, but very high quality, up to the standards of best Italian restaurants, which is really impressive for Maldives. The service in the restaurant was also outstanding. Everywhere was clean, the sandy beach is great for small children. Nice cocktails.
The water villas have a huge terrace, and it is always deep enough around them to swim comfortably.
I'd suggest to include all costs to the price of stay from the very beginning, such as seaplane and taxes, or at least to charge them at the day one. I had to spend the last evening and then morning after to speak with the reception about the calculations, as they couldn't explain some invoice lines straight away. Not a biggie, but something which is easy to fix and that would give total peace of mind to your guests.
For some reason there was no hot water in the shower during some days, but it was also ok, as the weather was hot, so we have not complained.

Wonderful intimate and authentic island where you feel at home thanks to an amazing welcoming warm staff from reception to restaurants, from the exceptional spa to the great team managing (water) sports and activities / fun ! Our 2-bedroom water villa is just a gem overseeing the lagoon and corals from sunrise to sunset. We spent Christmas and New Years' eve there and have been delighted by the attention and quality of how everything was organized. It was our first visit to the Maldives with our two teenagers and have been very lucky to pick Paradise on Earth !

Food is repetitive and that’s in the overwater villa restaurant. Required more choice.
