Pearl Beach Resort Gili Asahan

If you want to get away from crowds this is the place and island. The reef out the front is fantastic to snorkel, even saw sea horses. Room was large and bathroom good. As mentioned in other reviews tea and coffee facilities would be good. Food was reasonable and good. There are no roads so to get to the other resorts/hotels have to walk the beach which is great. They organized a couple of boat trips to neighbouring islands for us which was fantastic.

Our friends had a couple of issues with the hot water.

The location is just brilliant, just meters from some of the best snorkelling you'll find anywhere, especially right off the beach. The beer (Bintang of course) was cold and depending on the available fruit, the fruit juice drinks were good too. The bungalows are spacious, the beds comfortable and we had adequate storage room in our beachfront bungalow.

The biggest let-down of this place was the restaurant. We were disappointed at the token range of Indonesian and local dishes on the menu and the uninspiring flavour of those that were (read "toned down for western tastes") - luckily we found a much better (and flavoursome) range just a 10 min walk along the beach at Naga restaurant, although you'll need a flashlight or phone light to walk home safely at night. The service was friendly, but at times frustratingly slow. At breakfast on our 4th and final day it took 35 mins from order to delivery - and we arrived early. The excuse given was that the delay was caused because my wife asked that the egg on the Nasi Goreng to be hard! No attempt to even bring our fruit plate out sooner while the cooked dish was prepared.

The reef on the property was excellent. The whole vibe was great. Relaxed in the best way, with heaps of water activities if you wanted to snorkel, drive, stand up paddle board, or kayak. And everyone was so friendly.

I would have liked a little fridge and kettle in the room.

I liked the location of the property it was good for snorkeling.

I thought the property was a bit run down.The grounds could be maintained better and lit up better at night.The food was awful we had lunch when we arrived it was tasteless it was the first bad meal we had in 3 weeks we’ve been in Lombok.We ended up going to another guesthouse for dinner.Breakfast was no better.We had a scratching sound coming from our roof in our bungalow that kept us up half the night.
