Monastero San Silvestro

Our whole experience at Monastero San Silvestro was better than we could ever have imagined! We were in touch with Christian on the day of our arrival to let him know when we would arrive and the check-in process was very quick and smooth. If we had any questions at all, we could WhatsApp Christian and he would reply. The accommodation is beautiful (better than the photos!) We were give a one bedroom, first floor apartment and it was lovely... Very rustic, but with all the modern conveniences we needed (air con, wifi, TV, microwave and hairdryer). The bed was really comfortable and the shower in the bathroom was invigorating! The setting is wonderful and we were glad we brought our swimming costumes as the swimming pool was great (very clean and not too cold!) The cherry on top was the breakfast, served between 08:00 and 10:00, a buffet style breakfast is laid out with cereals, pastries, cheese and meats, plus fruit and yoghurt - everything was delicious! We really cannot recommend Monastero San Silvestro highly enough! If you're going to be in the Cortona area, you'll regret not staying here!

There was absolutely nothing not to like! If I had to say one thing... if you have an elderly person in your party, try to request accommodation on the ground floor as the steps are old monastery steps and may be difficult for elderly people who are not firm on their feet. For everyone else, it's just a lovely part of the monastery to experience!

Very nice setting, under the hills of Cortona! Nice pool and garden setting. Staff very friendly .

The apartments could be a bit better equipped, like cutting board, garlic press as it is facility where you can barbeque. We had several apartments and one of them did have the cutting board.

We had a very friendly greeting from lady when we first arrived. The location was great. Very near to Cortona but you need a car. The room was spacious 2 floors with a living room. So great for a family. Our bed was comfortable and the pool area was nice. Cortona is also very beautiful.

Unfortunately there were more things we didnt like. I was not aware that there is no service for anything. No food no breakfast. We provided everything, including extra toilet paper. I didnt know when booking this place i would be cleaning and cooking. There is no daily cleaning. So the house gets very dusty and there are lots of bugs, spider webs everywhere, which made me extremely uncomfortable. The pool was also filled with dead bugs. I did not see any staff when we were there and we stayed 4 nights. To be honest it looks more luxurious in the pictures. If you dont mind any of these things then its great. But we nearly left 1 night early. As we were leaving i saw the cleaning lady come to clean our room with new bed sheets and towels, and she put the pile of clean sheets and towels on top of the garbage can while she kneeled down to get something.😣 Im sorry but i cant say we had the best time here.
