Excellent, we would not hesitate to return.

Friendly staff. Popular hotel used by locals and visitors for swift and attentive service for drinks and meals alfresco and inside in the hotel restaurant. Food was delicious. We enjoyed a quiet and clean room with a very comfortable bed. Staff provided a clothes airer so that we could dry cycling kit washed at a local launderette. Our bicycles were securely stored during our stay. As for our car, we were directed to a free car park within a short walk from the hotel. There are numerous cycling routes from Poperinge and road links are very good for driving to neighbouring towns and cities. The Hotel Amfora is situated in the corner of a quaint town square with bars/restaurants, small supermarket, pharmacy, opticians, various other shops, historic Talbot House and a Hop Museum. A train station is nearby.

We stayed for 10 nights and would find it difficult to fault the hotel. A small fridge in the room might have been a bonus, but we know that the staff would have done all they could to accommodate our wishes if we had aired them. No complaints from us!

Relax and Enjoy

Location is great for visiting St Bernardus and Westvleteren. Walking distance from the train station. Quiet and comfortable. Slept very well. Very nice breakfast. They arranged a bicycle for me

Lovely stay in quaint Poperinge

The hotel is lovely. Location was superb. Smack in the city centre. Walkable distance from the Poperinge train station. Breakfast was very good. Across the hotel is a cafe with good halal food. Staff were very nice, made us felt welcome. Will definitely stay here again if we visit in the future.

Should have stayed another night

Quite. Clean. Charming 14 modern room place in the heart of town. Walk to the train station in less than 10 minutes. Rent a bike from the hotel and enjoy the country side. Delicious fresh breakfast. Great value.

Although I slept well, the bed was quite small.

Fantastic family hotel on a beautiful square

Lovely little family run hotel. We were late checking in after delays at ferry, hotel staff were great. Rooms were excellent, good size, quiet, clean. Location great on the square with a pub open next door for a late night beer. Lovely breakfast in their nice restaurant.

Pillow bit too hard for our liking but that's a very minor issue and obviously other people may like it that way.

Nice hotel in the centre of Poperinge, excellent restaurant

Our room was recently refurbished: modern styling and probably acoustics have been taken into account as it was a very quiet room. The bed was very comfy. Bathroom well equipped, not big, but practical. Everything was there. Breakfast buffet is what you would expect: good choice. We had dinner at the restaurant: highly recommended. The location is great in the centre of Poperinge.

Everything was OK, there was noting to dislike. Why not a perfect score then? Because perfection is not of this world and is definitely not fun. We had a great short break at Amfora.

Top rate family run hotel located in the main square

Friendly welcome from the owner who recognised me from a previous visit, excellent restaurant for evening meal and breakfast, good storage facilities for bikes and just an overall friendly feeling in a well run family hotel. The outside terrace on the main square is a delight to sit out in the evenings.

Comfortable and relaxing stay in Poperinge

Great stay, with breakfast and dinner served at our room. All covid measures were in place and respected. We felt safe and it was a very relaxing stay. Highly recommended if you are staying in Poperinge, or even in Ypres.

Cosy, friendly family run hotel on the main square with large outside seating area on the square and fabulous restaurant inside. Breakfast is delicious - fresh fruits in season, a variety of yogurts and cereals, pastries and hot dishes as well as salmon and meats. A top rate hotel in this small charming town rich in history from the Great War 1914-18.

My pillow was a bit too firm for my taste. Too late I found a softer one hiding in the wardrobe. I'll know next time.
