Good location, good value was ideal for us after landing at Gatwick. Comfortable room and bed. Tea/coffee and bottled water provided. Staff available for late night check-in.

Perfect location, easy to get to from A303, very friendly and helpful staff.

Bar was shut. Was told breakfast would be served 7-10am with a menu displayed, came down at 830am only to be told it wasn't being served that day. The room was cold so we complained and the heating was switched on but the radiator valve didn't work so it was boiling, even with the window open. The place smelt very fusty.

It was a roof over my head with a bed and shower

I treated myself to the “executive king room” and arrived at 10pm after 14 hour shift, being on the road all day in the horrible weather and extremely excited about a nice shower and lovely big bed. Turns out the meaning of “executive” is totally up for debate. Firstly the mattress. The springs were supporting me in spirit. It was as if I was lying on the first mattress ever invented. Extremely uncomfortable. The room also had a leak, which I only realised in the morning when I heard the drips smacking the sodden carpet. The light fixtures above the bed were hanging off and also a horrendous blue/white light which is exactly what you don’t want when trying to wind down. I like a cool room at night so was pleased to see it came with an air conditioning unit - which didn’t work. The bathroom was extremely dated with rusty taps and a dirty looking shower head. The whole room looked unkept and the fact that it was an “executive king room” is honestly laughable. Yes the room was a good size and the bed was a king. I can honestly say I wish I chose a Travelodge instead. Will not be returning.

Breakfast was good actually. Coffee could have been hotter. Staff were lovely. Beds and pillows were not great quality. I'm at the Premier Inn tonight close by, beds are so much more comfortable, and we have a double and single bed , paying less than Great Western

We booked room only. However breakfast was available but we did not take up this offer. There was no dinner available which was inconvenient due to the location of surrounding facilities. We were informed there was a bar which opened at 5 pm. There was no bar service on the Sunday. Staff member said she was not trained to provide this service.

Location (so quiet and peaceful), large room, excellent breakfast choice.

Room didn't have kettle or iron/board on arrival - this was quickly put right when raised with hotel staff.

We only stayed one night but it lived up to expectations, plus lovely comfy bed.

Lovely clean and comfortable room. Plenty of adaptations (grab rails etc) in the bath room which as I have arthritis helped me a lot.

We would have like a bigger cooked breakfast in the morning, there were no fried eggs or sausages. There were other things to choose from and you certainly wouldn't go hungry.

Basic, non welcoming and overpriced for what you get

It was in the right place for where I needed to go.

Overpriced for very dated rooms. Minimal customer service and NO HOT WATER. When mentioned about the water I was told to turn on the tap for the shower and the tap for the sink and wait for hot water. Safe to say it just about got hot after 10 minutes. For the cost of the room, facilities I’d rather travel further next time

Uncomfortable

Clean, nice furniture. Staff are a-mazingly friendly and kind.

The beds were far too small. Both me and my son struggled — he’s taller than me and found himself tossing and turning all night, trying not to fall off. The beds were closer to a child’s size than a proper single bed, which made them very uncomfortable for adults. The room itself had some serious issues too. One wall slanted down so close to the bed that it felt claustrophobic, almost like being inside an MRI scanner. The window was also extremely small and positioned high up, giving no view at all — it felt more like a prison window. When I opened it, all I could see were leaves and darkness, which made the room feel very closed in. On the positive side, the bed texture itself wasn’t bad, and the hotel was otherwise comfortable. But the bed sizes and the room design made the stay very unpleasant.

Not perfect, not bad - Nice enough for a good rest

I loved my room. Beautiful and spacious. The bed was cozy and I loved how clean it was. The ladies and the one gentleman at the front desk were very friendly and polite! They were very helpful and could not do enough even when things were out of their control. The bath in the room was lovely! Very clean bathroom! Tea & coffee facilitues was brilliant!

The shower was either burning hot or freezing cold. No in between or ability to control temperature of the shower. Thank God I had a bath tube in my room. Bar was rarely open. When I asked for the opening times, I was told when ever the barman turned up or left. My friends and I were disappointed. The breakfast was appauling. I asked for a fried egg and the lady said she could only cook boiled eggs. The streaky bacon was raw and not cooked. Looked half microwaved. This was the biggest let down.

All of the staff that we met were very pleasant and caring. Our questions were answered competently and in a friendly manner.

The bathroom was a big problem. There was a leak behind the toilet every time you flushed the loo (RH side). The shower wasn't thermostatically controlled and in my opinion, dangerous. The tap/shower fitting is cheap (and nasty) and unless great care is taken to control the temperature and water force it comes out with great force and scaldingly hot. It's also not possible to direct the shower head and getting in and out of the bath is not easy for elderly people. Also our breakfast was very disappointing. We asked for boiled eggs and as we like them soft boiled asked that they be cooked for 4 minutes. There were no egg cups. Our (really very caring) waitress was as helpful as possible but when the eggs arrived there was nowhere to put them and they were raw and 'snotty'. Yes, there were alternatives but we were on a tight schedule and had't time to wait for another breakfast. The previous evening the bar wasn't able to offer a Brandy and Green Ginger. We were, overall, really disappointed.

Hotel was in it's own grounds with a small garden and terrace. A very pleasant stay.

The breakfast was varied and adequate. All rooms we found were clean, tidy and pleasant. Staff were pleasant, welcoming and helpful. The small bar was quiet but used by a variety of other guests during the time when we were in there. Hotel very good for a short stay.

An enjoyable stay in somewhat interesting buildings in a quiet location.

Check in staff friendly and welcoming as are the ancillary staff. Breakfast room staff took the trouble to provide cooked breakfast option over and above the normal continental. Hotel is made up of somewhat interesting buildings in a quiet location that seem were once an agricultural setting tucked away in a quiet country lane (watch out for the Best Western sign for the hotel on the road) yet a brisk 7-10minutes (downhill) walk brings you to the (small) town centre with its pubs, restaurants and shops. By nature of the location, parts of the road to the hotel are unlit but safe (glad I happened to have my torch anyway). The rooms and all public areas were immaculate and well stocked with tea, coffee and milk. Would I stay again? Yes for the individuality of the buildings and location and unlike other chain hotel buildings which look so alike as each other.

Not a lot to dislike (for me personally).
