Probably best hotel in Karlsruhe

First off, amazing welcome and service from every single staff member from start to finish - not the contrived over-extended or even fake kind you can find in a 5 star establishment - just always friendly and attentive to your needs, withough being too much or too little. The food was amazing too. We dined in the more relaxed (non-michelin star) restaurant and it was great. In addition, my wife and I are gluten-free and the staff took this seriously and it was simply a pleasure dining there. The spa! Simply one word - awesome! They seem to have just completely remodelled it. Super clean and modern. The next time we're in Karlsruhe, we'll be staying here again.

As you have probably read, there are numerous reviews regarding the rooms. Yes, they are a little dated and could use some TLC. The hotel was expanded a few times, which leads to the box in a box (verkastelt) feeling ;) All that said, it not be enough for me to give this hotel a bad rating, as they make up for this with everything else.

Nice but way to overpriced stay

The spa area was really nice, especially the Sauna area was modern and cosy. The room was spacious and nicely furnished.

Value for money at the Erbprinz is really bad. It is a decent and nice hotel but overall experience and especially the design, food and service consistency doesn’t equal a 5 star hotel. Hence prices at the hotel are WAY too overpriced and not justified. For the prices at the restaurant, spa area, breakfast it really requires more “luxury” and best in class service than what the Erbprinz offers. As said it is a nice and really decent hotel but that at that overpriced level.

A truly remarkable and memorable stay

This hotel exceeded all of our expectations in all respect. In particular: the breakfast, which its wide range of high quality food and drinks was outstanding!

A minor point: We were asked when we checked in to fill in some personal details on a tablet. The software on the tablet was not very user friendly. Also, when I had to select the country of residence (being The Netherlands, or as it was mentioned by the software 'Niederlande'), the software did not accept that selection as if the country did not exist...! While not a problem for us, I can well imagine that some customers prefer pen and paper instead of a tablet. Someone should review and improve.

Depressing, ugly, old-fashioned, couldn’t wait to leave

Nice bathrooms, spacious showers with a strong jet. Friendly staff.

Very depressing spa area, dark, low ceilings, too much bulky old-fashioned furtniture, everything is just ugly. It feels like a dark autumn day in there, even when it’s sunny and bright outside. Air conditioner in the room was noisy, pillows are fluffy but not supportive at all, blankets feathery, dusty and too hot. Everything feels dusty, heavy and old. Ugly furniture, carpets, art. Pretentious but no taste. We couldn’t wait to get out of there and get some fresh air.

Room A/Cs not powerful on hot days; beds are too small. Pillows were too soft. Furniture is outdated, I understand that this is a classic hotel but still modern touches can give it a more premium feel.

It was once a 5* hotel, but not anymore.

Bed was comfortable. Very nice bar and common areas, including the breakfast area.

The room was not clean, dust everywhere. The sofa had a big stain on it. The breakfast was rich but had not a lot of options (only 3 buffet hot options to choose from). All in all, this is a nice cosy 4* Hotel and it would have been perfect if it was clean and somehow cheaper.

Staying in the hotel gave real satisfaction!

Surprising hotel, very luxurious. Large rooms! Delicious breakfast, fresh and plentiful. Tasty coffee, bread, scramble eggs, cake, all..... Comfortable spa center!

It's nice when the reception staff remembers you, you don't have to keep asking for your name.

It's very central, very close to the Marktplatz and next to the tram which can take you anywhere you want (btw which makes no noise, so don't worry about it). There are 3 parking options. Open air, co spot (8 spots) and underground parking. The breakfast was awesome ! The room was very spacious. The kids slept in add-on beds in the living room. Room service dropped off chocolates for the kids every day. We haven't used it but there is a kitchen. The hotel provides pots etc if you wish to cook. We had a huge terrace with a gorgeous view.

I heard from an employee that guests get a free daily pass for the tram, but the receptionist appeared to be unaware.

Delightful rooms, Pool- & Spa-facilities and delicious food. Staff is very welcoming and helpful. It's our perfect overnight stay on the way to Switzerland. We've stayed at the Erbprinz before and we will definitely come back in years to come.

Das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis passt leider nicht.

Das Buffet es Frühstücks war viel zu weit weg von den Sitzmöglichkeiten. Das Rührei, was eh nur lauwarm in der Warmhaltebox war, war dann am Tisch kalt. Die Bedienung war höflich, hat mich aber leider nicht verstanden, dass ich normale Milch in dem Filterkaffee haben wollte. Es war leider zu schwierig!!

Das Hotel Erbprinz ist eine kleine Perle im Herzen von Ettlingen. Sowohl der erste Eindruck, als auch der nachhaltig erstklassige Service hat mich angenehm überrascht und mir den Aufenthalt zu einem besonderen Erlebnis gemacht. Vielen Dank an das komplette Team

Die Parkplatzsituation (einem Event geschuldet) war am ersten Abend schwierig. Jdoch wurde vom Service auch hier eine Lösung direkt angeboten (mein Auto wurde vom Team umgeparkt, sobald ein Parkplatz frei wurde. Daher ist wohl auch das positiv zu bewerten.
