Great place to relax with all inclusive, but some room for improvement.
All inclusive is a little bit expensive, but meals, snacks, drinks and waterpark in this hotel are high quality. Location in Platanias is good with plenty of shopping, entertaiment for kids and good beach nearby. Small playground was better than expected and in good condition. The gym was pretty modern and well equipped.
The large pool should be cleaned better, for the entire duration of our stay a green algae stripe circulated the wall of the pool just above water surface. Most likely it is somekind of material issue of the pool tiles reacting with water surface, but it did not look nice. In October all of the pools and waterpark water temperature was a bit too cool, hotel of this level could consider using solar heating to extend the season. The bar could use more staff at peak hours and rearranging the bar might make operation much smoother.

A fantastic stay in Porto Platanias Village
We absolutely loved our stay in Porto Platanias Village.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. A special shout out to Veta (hope I spell her name well) who made us amazing drinks and of course thanks to all bar staff.
Food was great, there were so many choices and changed daily. Delicious fresh salads also for breakfast. I’ve never eaten so much Greek salad and tzatziki in my life.
There were snacks in the pool bar basically all day so if you missed breakfast or lunch, you could still grab something there.
We had a one bed apartment on the top floor with a sea view so I suggest to choose a sea view room as the other rooms can have a view on the stairs and many grand floor rooms were very dark (lots of greenery and flowers around balconies).
Pool was big and we could always find a space around it as a couple but if you travel with a bigger group you might struggle unless you’re there super early. Some people put their towels on sun lounges before breakfast which was annoying and despite the sign that towels will be removed noone did that. I think staff should be more strict about it especially early morning when you can clearly see that people just “reserve” and are not in the pool or bar.
But if you’re all inclusive guest you can use aquapark pool for free which was much quieter and you can have so much fun on slides.
We could also use pools in the sister hotel opposite the road but we didn’t like it as much because pools there are between buildings whereas in the village the pool is more open and not next to rooms.
We could also eat lunch and dinner in the sister hotel but tbh there was nothing special, in fact we prefer the village restaurant and pool bar, the other seems cold with no vibe.
So in the end we were glad that they didn’t upgraded us to the beach resort because the only thing we liked there were nicer sun lounges. Everything else was better in the Village!
Unfortunately we had the most uncomfortable beds (we had two single put together). They were just way too soft for us and we woke up almost every morning with some back pain. I don’t know the other rooms and of course it’s our subjective opinion, others might like it.
There was no entertainment in the evening, once we supposed to have a dj and they started preparing their station but after 20 minutes they packed everything and left without even telling people what happened and apologised (I understand there might be technical issues but they could say something). Apparently most entertainment was in the sister hotel, well we went there once or twice and we couldn’t hear or see anything going on. They also have a Hermes bar and there was life music on Tuesday but you need to pay for your drinks, I think all inclusive guests should have it for free or at least 50% off so people would have come there to listen but this bar was practically empty every day and it looked sad (shame as it has lots of potential). Also tiny bar by the aquapark wasn’t for free and we had to go to the main pool bar for drinks (which wasn’t far but a little inconvenient). All inclusive guest should be able to get at least some drinks for free there.
Lastly, the public toilets in the aquapark had marble tiles on the floor, it was super slippery. Looks nice and expensive but it’s not practical at all.

Very nice.
The breakfast is fantastic
The beds were extremely soft and hurt my back. But if you like soft beds, they were good lol

Great weather
Good location
Not enough charging ports in the room, shower leaked , room cleaning was not up to standards for a 5 star resort and the beds were not comfortable for me.

Great location near beach and restaurants, but sunbeds always reserved
excellent location, close to restaurants and just a short walk from the beach. The buffet is nice and has a great selection of food
It is almost impossible to get a sunbed by the pool. From early in the morning, they are already reserved with towels, even though this practice is supposed to be prohibited.

Great upgrade!
We got upgraded to a seaview apartment at Porto Platanias Beach (sister hotel just across the road). It was calm and really nice, with a beautiful view. The upgrade made our stay exceed our expectations by far!
The kids were happy - they played in the waterpark and drank virgin mojitos all day long. No cues at the water park and fun slides.
The buffet included in the all inclusive package was okay - it met our expectations (which were quite low). The buffet restaurant was calm and had a nice view, especially the second floor.
Everything was great, just some small notes.
- There were too few sunbeds by the pools.
- Complicated system for ordering drinks at the buffet - no menus and not clear what was included in the all inclusive package.
- The kids wanted to know if there were slushies included in the all inclusive package, so I sent a message to ask about a month before our stay. The answer was "yes", but then there were no slushies. The virgin mojitos were great, though 😊
- The beach below the hotel is not very nice, but we knew that before we booked.

Great location, clean and well kept hotel!
Great location! We even got a room with a very nice sea view. Room was very clean and functional. Large parking space available for hotel guests.
Beds were too soft, of course a matter of taste.

Room smells, kids are too louds outside.
The toilet looks new. Breakfast was okay. They have Chamomile tea at least. The pool is good, but we didn't use it. The flowers are very well-maintained. The luggage guy was very friendly. The manager was helpful.
Initially, they didn't give us the room type we indicated in our booking. We are travelling for business, hence we booked a double bedroom. However, they gave me a queen-size one-bedroom without even confirming with us. The luggage guy drove us to this incorrect room and helped us to carry our heavy suitcases up already to only find out it's not the room we booked. Hence, we had to head back to the reception to make changes. Luckily, the manager was able to find us a double bed room, so it was not a disaster in the end.
The room smelled like lamb skewers. The toilet was at least neat and good. The room was so close to the kids' playground, so we could still hear the kids shouting and laughing, running, and yelling at 11:30 pm. It wasn't too bad after we closed all the windows, though. So this means no fresh air and we had to suck up the lamb smell.
The wifi was unstable. I couldn't get a connection from the bedroom. My laptop cannot even connect. When I called the reception, he said he didn't know how to help me. He said he was using the same wifi. I asked him if I went to the reception, and if the possibility of connecting would get higher, and he said he didn't know. This was shocking. I never experienced any service like this. It might be a language barrier, though.
We thought we had booked the Plato Platanias beach and spa resort opposite the street. I think they used the other fancier hotel's photos online, so we accidentally (or not) booked the wrong and a lower-quality hotel. Hence, overall, it was not what we expected, sorry. Having said that, this hotel might be good for the family.

It was ok, the hotel and pool was good. But changed rooms, first didn’t have an outside balcony!
Good selection buffet breakfast, quality good. Perfectly adequate. Nice pool, although you had to be quick in the morning otherwise no decent sunbeds left even though there were plenty of them. Hotel was full, I think! Second room we had was more roomy than the first one.
The location, far too commercialised for our liking. Annoying keep fit swim aerobics most days at 12.00 noon in the pool, with loud music! The first room we were given was like being in a shopping mall, surrounded by walls and stairs with no feeling of outside space on the balcony. This was a ground floor room which we changed for an upstairs as we use a balcony quite a lot and this was better and also next to our daughter who was also staying there. It was good of them to accommodate us in this respect as, I think, this room was probably more expensive.

Pleasant
The pool was large and the apartment layout worked well for our family (but quite small for 4 of us). Porto platainas was a good base for exploring Western Crete and we loved Chania and visited frequently. Great restaurants up the Hill set back from the main strip esp Astrea. The housekeeping team were great and kept everything clean and tidy. They were the hotel high point.
The hotel was not good value for money, definitely not 4* as very basic. Food was not great, felt sorry for people having to eat there all meals, we just had breakfast. It was expensive for what it was. Front desk were mixed, some staff ok others rude. It was just OK, nothing dreadful but wouldn't recommend to people. Wish we'd stayed in a cheaper 3* apartment instead and probably would have had friendlier and more classic Greek hospitality and saved £500+!

Swimming pool for adults, the possibility to go to the other hotel Porto, to the sea and to the swimming pools. Very large room, a studio in fact, with all the necessary facilities, everything clean and well set up. The location is located very close to the bus station and the central area of Platanias; you cross a street and in 200-300 m you reach the sea, many grocery stores, parking lots, tavernes.
I had half board, the food is basic, the same dishes every day, poor quality for a 4 star hotel. You cannot change towels daily at the pool. The shower door does not close tightly and the water is easily made on the floor after the shower (the drain is a little further back).

Hotel in a fantastic location, with a great pool area, excellent breakfast, and spacious rooms!
Room was spacious and offered some very great views to the village and the sea. Housekeeping staff friendly, they did their jobs very well and efficiently. When we arrived, there was a nice and friendly guy who carried our two rather heavy luggages to our room in the summer heat, this is what I call a 5-star service! Pool area very great, a big pool and many sunbeds. There's also a small Adults Only Pool in a different part of the hotel complex, if you prefer a more quiet area. Breakfast was excellent, everything they had was very delicious, and they had a very versatile selection. A special mention to the desserts, they had this amazing homemade pudding, 4 different flavours of ice cream, tasty cakes.. Couldn't have it better in my opinion! Location of the hotel is very good, right in the middle of Platanias, and if you want to visit Agia Marina, it's also very close. Central bus station under 200m away, and many restaurants and shops are just a few steps away. The main hotel, Porto Platanias Beach & Spa is also just across the street, and you can use their services & facilities as well. Overall a very great experience!
The bed, and also other furniture of the room were very creaky. I woke up a few times during the night to the sound of creaking when me or my family member were moving just a little. Nothing that big, but if you're sensitive to sounds then that could bother you, especially in the night. Also the check-out at 11:00 was a bit too early, especially since our flight was leaving in the evening. We tried asking for a later check-out, which understandably wasn't possible since it was high-season and the hotel was booked. At times there were staff at the reception that didn't seem to know much. When we tried to ask questions about the hotel, trips or amenities they weren't able to give us any answers, and we had to find the information ourselves. Please note that this was only one person, mainly the staff was very friendly and helpful!

We stayed two weeks, but could stay for months!
Our room was amazing, with two balconies and stunning view to the garden! The whole hotel complex is super charming, with small houses and beautiful plants. It's really perfect spot especially during corona as you can keep distance.

+ We were given a free upgrade to a lovely, big room with 2 balconies, overlooking the pool :) + The staff was super friendly and welcoming. + It wasn’t very crowded. + Even though the hotel wasn’t fully booked, the buffet was fully stocked with ample choices (breakfast as well as diner). + Free parking next to the hotel. + Vouchers for free sunbed rental at beach.

Great hotel!
Very clean, extremely friendly staff, quiet but still on the main road. Very easy to get the bus from the airport.
Had to walk to the hotel across the road for reception so was a little more effort to get things but not a big issue.
