Lavender Cottage

Cozy, warm and well equipped cottage!

Such a cosy, well-appointed cottage. Sophie was wonderful - fizz and milk in fridge, cake on table when we arrived. Super clean. Logs and kindling in the shed. The kitchen was well equipped. Tasteful furnishings & linens. Great location within easy walking distance of Grassington with all its facilities, cafes, pubs, shops etc. (The pub would be very convenient but has been closed for sometime and no prospect of re-opening). Although the road is quite close there is absolutely no noise due to the effective windows. The garage with an excellent spar shop and local butchers is less that 10 min walk. You could arrive with no supplies. If you check out Yorkshire Life for March, the cottage on the front!

Immaculately presented lovely, quiet, cosy, very well-equipped cottage. Milk, Prosecco and a beautiful home made cake on arrival. Log wood burner plus excellent central heating. The cottage has been tastefully renovated to a very high standard. Exceptional!

Nothing to dislike…..could happily live here!

The bottle of Prosecco and chocolate cake welcome pack were a generous gesture from the host (although we don't drink Prosecco, it was appreciated by our local family!) The bed was very comfortable and the shower worked well. The cottage is very tastefully decorated and charming. There was plenty of information provided about the house and locality with ideas of where to eat and places to visit, although in our case we are very familiar with the area, as it was our daughter's wedding at the Gamekeepers Inn which brought us there.

Despite the extensive information folder about the cottage, It wasn't made very clear which part of the property belonged to Lavender Cottage and which belonged to the attached home next door, so we were unsure at first about the outside laundry. Fortunately the neighbours were friendly and clarified this for us. Unfortunately the after doing a load of washing we discovered the clothes drier didn't work, but were able to take our wet washing to our daughter's home to dry it. However this could be a problem for other occupants without local friends or relatives. We also could not find a key to open the front door, which meant always having to walk around to the back door to gain entry and rendered the outdoor setting at the front of the house rather unusable, as any food or drink would have to be taken there via the road. The blind in the kitchen was broken which meant there was no means of creating privacy, especially at night when the kitchen light was on, allowing anyone passing by to see straight in.
