The Coach House

The location of the cottage, as well as the feel and layout of the cottage was ideal for our needs. The ability to leave the gate and go walking up and down the local hills was ideal, with spectacular views and peace and quiet. Well equipped, and the owners were very friendly and approachable.

The timing for the central heating meant that during mid-late afternoon, the cottage became very cold, and it was difficult to keep warm during the colder weather.

Guests have access to own heating control when weather cold rather than having to disturb hosts if wish to have heating on before preset timing.

We didn't pick up from the online info that the upstairs ceiling height was quite so low- meaning we both gently banged our heads a few times - however there was good padding to stop you doing any real damage after a glass of wine! It was absolutely fine for a few days and in fact very charming and part of the cottage's uniqueness. As there is no shower, the hand held bath attachment took us both straight back to hair washing in baths in the 70's - very happy memories! So nothing problematic, you just have to be a bit flexible to enjoy a sweet little cottage in the middle of nowhere. Very peaceful break! We'd come back definitely.

The Coach House is perfect if you are looking for peace and quiet and want to get away from the busy city life. Situated next to a beautiful church and has private off road parking. The garden is enclosed which is great if you have a dog. The hosts are very friendly and helpful.

The cottage is attached to the hosts house with an internal (locked) door in the kitchen. And no independent control for heating and hot water. The low beams in the bedrooms give character but unfortunately means you have to constantly bend down to avoid banging your head. Being unable to neither lay down in the bath or stand up to have a shower was inconvenient. The bath is on the small side and there is no shower hook so you have to sit and hold the shower and be careful not to bang your head on the low ceiling. The TV is dated but the hosts do have a wide selection of DVDs which was appreciated.
