Very nice stuff, clean, good value for money
A bit far from the center of Madrid but not an issue as train go there fast. Noise cancellation as we were able to hear some noise from other rooms

Hostal Colon is really close to Getafe Central station, which makes it a good choice for tourist accommodation. Furniture is minimalistic, room size is small, but I have not expected more. The hygiene was perfect, rooms are cleaned on daily basis. We haven't tried the breakfast and the Wi-Fi, so nothing to say about them.
The bathroom cabin is quite tight. I am a bit overweight and bending down to grab the soap which slipped out of my hand was impossible without opening the cabin door. I am not used to one big pillow (double-sized), which is obviously quite popular in Spain and was a bit uncomfortable for me. Only one of four receptionists we met knew English, which made communication a bit hard, but they rally tried hard, so we managed to find a Spanish-English-manual way of communicating.

Friendly and accommodating reception staff – The woman at reception was very nice and helpful.
Nice cleaning service – The cleaning lady was kind and cleaned the room during your stay.
Decent coffee – The coffee served at breakfast was not bad.
Good toast – The toast quality was good.
Breakfast available – Even if basic, breakfast was provided.
Very small room – The room size was extremely limited.
Low-quality juice – Juice appeared to be from a cheap supermarket brand.
Unclean blanket – The blanket had hairs from previous guests, which is a hygiene issue.
Key policy inconvenience – Guests must leave their keys at reception when going out.
Mold in the room – Presence of mold is a serious cleanliness and health concern.
Inefficient heating – The heating system does not work well when it is cold outside.
