Light Hostel

We spent great fes days in the city and this hostel met exactly our expectations on the location, cleanliness, coziness (we had our own room) and equipment (kitchen and terrace on the last floor).

I like having my own room with my private bathroom. The open space common areas (basement, upper floor and rooftop) are really nice. I can see it's a really lovely place for a group of friends.

The walls are thin. I could hear a lot of sounds, even with my earplugs on and the mattress wasn't too comfortable either.

Super clean bathroom, big enough single mattress, lovely rooftop and kitchen area, free water dispenser and tea bags. To reduce plastic waste, Taiwanese law prohibits hotels from giving single-use toiletries for free; these items are available for a small fee near the reception (and towels also).

The luggage elevator makes a loud and startling bang when activated. My room was directly behind it. Luckily, no one used it at night. I didn’t see any signs asking other guests to avoid using it during quiet time but i would suggest putting one.

12mins' walk to Chiayi TRA station. Clean room. Cup and dispenser in the hallway.

Unfriendly and unapproachable counter staff who rattled on rapidly in Mandarin about their rules and regulations, and showed unhappy cos I was disoriented and missed the lockers for changinh into their slippers. Matteress on floor. No mattress protector. Rules include no eating in room, removing beddings (fair enough), NT200 if you check out even 10min late, additional NT200 for every hr of delay, NT500 if u trouble them to open door for u, NT200 if u lose door card. No counter service at night and main door can be accessed by anyone without a card. Low security.
