About this villa rental

The apartment is located on the mezzanine floor of a villa surrounded by greenery, at the foot of the millenary Sacra di San Michele, near the Lakes and the medieval city of Avigliana: an ideal charming place for a relaxing holiday, between nature and culture. The flat has its own private terrace, it overlooks a cozy and quiet park. All rooms are spacious and bright, have a view of the garden and the forest of stones. The bedrooms, one with a marble floor, the other with inlaid parquet floors, are furnished with period furniture and antique textiles. The bathroom, with shower, has a small art gallery. The dining room, which also has a marble floor and crystal chandelier, features a reading corner and TV (satellite and digital). The kitchen is fully equipped but housing also has summer and winter barbecue. Guests have at their disposal a reserved parking, free and shaded, a vegetable garden and a solarium in a field of lavender.

Once again a wonderful stay at the base of Sacra di Sam Michele, the mediëval Annet which figured in The Name of the Rose. Barbara and her family gave us a warm welcome in the apartment full of treasures. And a filled cool box, wine, sweets and drinks! And just opposite the house a baker craftsperson with excellent bread and pastry. A place to love and to return to!

I cannot adequately put into words the perfection that was our stay here. Barbara and her family are the most genuine, kind people, and you can tell they love what they do; Barbara has spared no detail in every room of the apartment, from flower petals in the ice cubes (!) to flowers, candies, and handwritten notes throughout the house. The home was built by a family member and includes a large Italian marble floor (so exquisite!). The kitchen was fully stocked with all we'd need to cook a meal after a long, tiring journey. Additionally, the family provided fresh eggs from the chickens and wine and pastries! truly, no detail was overlooked. The place has a zen-like quality, and for the first time on our trip, I was able to fully relax and take in the air; we sat on the balcony each night and drank wine and wrote in our journals. The property is surrounded by beauty -- a lovely garden at our disposal for herbs for cooking, trails and mountains/lakes, and a delightful restaurant less than 2 minutes walk from the home. On one morning, I was ill and not ready to drive the car, and so Barbara's son graciously offered to drive us into the town and became somewhat of a tour guide for us that day (MANY THANKS!). I have already said I will return to this place again in the future. Thank you, Barbara! What a special place you have.

A beautiful apartment wonderfully restored by Barbara and her family to give an amazing insight into Italian life. We very much enjoyed our stay everything was perfect, the apartment was extremely well fitted out with everything you would need for an enjoyable stay nothing had been missed at all. The accommodation is outside of the hustle of Avigliana in a very quiet village, there is a great bakery just opposite and supermarkets in the town to cater for all your needs. Barbara and her family were wonderful helping with all our queries nothing was too much trouble thank you all for you generous hospitality.

Wij waren voor 1 week met 3 personen te gast bij deze zeer vriendelijke gastgever(s). Het huis is zeer ruim en met liefde voor detail ingericht. Alle voorgaande meningen van gasten zijn geenzins overdreven. De centrale ligging voor interessante uitstapjes in de buurt is ideal, maar ook verder weg gelegen historische zoals Cueno (Tende treinreis naar Nice), de kust tussen Savona en Genua, of Briancon in FR zijn goed te doen. Deze vakantie zal ons langer dan andere in zeer positive herinnering blijven!

Barbera and her family treated us unbelievably well. The section we stayed in was well decorated, well stocked with basic foods for breakfast and was very clean. The surrounding area was exactly the Italian county side experience we were looking for. From the gardens kept by Barbaràs mother to the village bake shop across the street it was a wonderful experience for those looking for authentic village life but still accessible to major areas such as Turin and Susa Thank you Barbara and your entire family.

Homely, spacious and peaceful

Five of us stayed here for a week and we had such a wonderful time. Never before have I rented a house with such a generous, helpful and smiley owner. She could not do enough for us and really helped to make our stay special. The kitchen was left full of provisions, there was a bottle of wine on the table and we were told that we could help ourselves to produce in the garden, and that the garden was free for us to wander in wherever. The house is really interesting with marble floors and old furnishings and it has a homely, spacious quality. Apart from all that, the rural setting of the house was quite special, surrounded by hills and trees, and with goats and sheep alongside and with the perfect terrace from which to watch the sun rise or the storms over the mountains. We did not have a car but the owner was more than willing to ferry us whenever we needed her to, and she directed us to the best ways to walk to the lakes and into Avigliana, both of which were well worth visiting and only took about half an hour to reach by foot. Avigliana was ancient and not spoiled by tourism, the lakes were excellent for swimming, boating and walking, and we enjoyed the frescoes at San Antonio. We also walked from the house up to the amazing Sacra San Michele. There are no shops in the village of Bertassi apart from the most delicious bakery just opposite the house and this also stocked other basic provisions. There was also a promising looking restaurant but that was closed while we were there. This did not matter because we loved being at the house. For anyone wanting a rural stay which is out of the ordinary, this is the place to go.

An excellent experience, surpassing all expectations - the accommodation, the family and the valley. Highly recommended! The accomodation was even better than it appears in the photographs, spacious, tasteful and welcoming. The family were always on hand to help, from tourist information to Piamontese cooking classes! Susa valley is beautiful with seemingly endless scenic and historic surprises at every turn, and Avigliana Old Town is really special... a must! Una experiencia excelente, que sobrepasó todas nuestras expectativas: el alojamiento, la familia y el valle. Altamente recomendable! El alojamiento fue aún mejor de lo que aparece en las fotos, espacioso, de buen gusto y acogedor. La familia siempre estuvo atenta para ayudarnos, desde darnos información turística a ofrecernos clases de cocina piamontesa! El valle de Susa es hermoso y con un sinfín de sorpresas en sus paisajes e historia. El centro histórico de Avigliana es muy especial....para no perderlo!

We stayed in this beautiful Italian apartment for one night but wished we had booked in for longer. It was beautifully decorated throughout, with an exceptional attention to detail. Even though we arrived late we received a thoroughly warm welcome from the owners. We were provided with every utility possible, with food and drinks already in the fridge for our use and a range of differing breakfast foods to get a real taste of Italy. I would highly recommend this place to anyone travelling to Italy it was absolutely gorgeous and we would definitely like to stay there again.

Die Ferienwohnung liegt sehr idyllisch. Sie schmiegt sich an einige Hänge. Von dort führt ein schöner Weg in 90 Minuten zur Sacra San Michele. Das ist ein sehr lohnenswerter Spaziergang. Der kleine Ort hat eine wunderbare Bio-Bäckerei, eine Käserei und eine nette Trattoria, die in weniger als 5 Minuten zu erreichen sind. Das Haus ist sehr schön und massiv gebaut. Wir haben alle hervorragend geschlafen. Die Einrichtung ist sehr liebevoll. Unsere Gastgeberin und ihre Familie wohnen im Gebäude nebenan. Alle haben sich rührend um uns gekümmert und wir möchten uns nochmal dafür bedanken. Obwohl wir den ganzen Garten nutzen durften, haben wir auch viel Zeit auf dem wunderbaren massiven Balkon verbracht und Nachts die schwärmenden Glühwürmchen beobachtet. Die strategische Lage ist hervorragend. Turin ist eine halbe Stunde mit dem entfernt. Etliche dramatische Spaziergänge in den Alpen liegen im Umkreis von einer Stunde. Wir haben es sogar geschafft einen Tag ans Mittelmeer zu fahren. Diese Ferienunterkunft ist eine hundertprozentige Empfehlung.

La maison est proche d'Avigliana , mais dans un petit bourg calme et reposant ; on peut aller facilement aux lacs , et monter à la Sacra San Michele ; pour les plus sportifs , un beau sentier boisé part de la maison et rejoint la basilique ( attention ça monte….. ) On peut facilement aller à Turin ( très bien desservi par train aussi ) . La maison est agréable , joliment décorée avec un jardin ombragé . Encore merci à Barbara pour son accueil et sa gentillesse !

As Family (3 Persons) we visited this Location for the 2nd time and we enjoyed it even more as the 1st time as we know the direct area better as before. The house and location (+ 2 new born goats) are truly appealing, beside that the hosts give you always a warm welcome and you strongly notice that taken care of their guests is their passion.

C'est la première fois que nous avons l'agréable surprise de constater que les photos correspondent parfaitement à la réalité. Maison magnifique, accueil chaleureux; tout est pensé, prévu pour que le séjour se passe au mieux, jusqu'au moindre détail. On est "chouchouté"! J'incite vivement les futurs hôtes à envisager un séjour de plus d'une semaine pour profiter pleinement de tout; on y est tellement bien dans cette maison!! Our second stay in the tastefully decorated appartment of Barbara and family was again very relaxing and serene. The nature surrounding the estate and the proximity of Turin by train from Avigliana offer the best of both worlds: a quiet area far from the traffic and hectic city, but cultural highlights within easy reach. We loved the way we were again welcomed by the family and hope to return soon. Great hideaway for couples!

Die Wohnung ist wudnerbar in einem kleinen Örtchen gelegen. Der Biobäcker und die Käserei sind mit "Hausschuhen" erreichbar. Wir waren für eine Schreibeklausur da und konnte so den Platz und die Ruhe (unterbrochen nur von Kuh- oder Schafsglocken ;-) ) vor Ort sehr gut nutzen. Barbara und Paola, die beiden guten Seelen des Hauses haben zudem den Aufenthalt zu einem wunderbaren Erlebnis gemacht und zum Gelingen unserer Texte beigetragen. Ganz herzlichen Dank für all die Aufmerksamkeiten! Noch einige Worte zur Lage: Avigliana ist in 5 min erreicht (Auto / 15-20 min mit dem Rad), der Zug nach Turin geht ab Avigliana alle halbe Stunde nach Susa jede Stunde, an den Lago Grande ist man auch schnell geradelt (10-15 min) und wer einfach mal auf die Sacra di San Michele wandern möchte braucht nur aus der Haustür treten und ist im Grunde schon auf dem Weg. Wir freuen uns in jedem Fall auf das nächste Mal! Fam Cerny

Zoekt u zon rust en ruimte en met name Italiaanse gastvrijheid. Dan is deze locatie het absolute summum. Prachtige en behulpzame mensen, een villa ingericht zoals je ze als gasten verblijf maar zelden ziet. Niets op aan te merken!! Een tuin, liefde voor de natuur en omgeving en vele mogelijkheden in de omgeving welke meer dan interessant zijn. Een echte aanrader!!!! Barbera BEDANKT namens Tineke en Johan. Juni 2019
