Boathouse - Birks River Retreat

We enjoyed 3 nights at the Boathouse, and from the point of arrival we knew it was going to be a highlight of our Road Trip. We are 3 weeks in with another 11 weeks to go and very appreciative to Phil and Wendy that we got to stay in their property. We met Phil shortly after arrival and he gave us many tips on restaurants and activities in the area. Communication during our stay was prompt when required. The Boathouse is very well equipped with everything you would need for a 3+ night stay – plus more. The decor is well suited to the theme of the Boathouse with an abundance of thoughtful knickknacks which complement a feeling of relaxation, privacy and an experience to remember. We highly recommend this place to anybody coming to this region and rate it so high that my wife and I have agreed it to be up with the best places we have stayed at within Australia and Europe over the past four years of extensive travel (Approx 150 stays).

nothing - the place is faultless

A beautiful spot on the water, the perfect size for two & facilities comfortable. Has everything you need in one spot and walking distance to everything else.

Wish the dining chairs were shorter so you could see the beautiful boat view from the bed - but this didn’t impact our stay at all. Still 10/10

The location on the river is fabulous. The large deck faces east and is surrounded by trees and birds. The small marina adjacent is not busy. The bike / walking path outside the boathouse leads into the town centre, a nice 1.8km walk, or along the river in the other direction. The boathouse is beautifully appointed, and the hosts provided a generous breakfast basket.
