    A stay within Alishan national park. Good location if you want to explore Alishan. They give out breakfast vouchers but food often run out and the restaurant don't replenish the food.

    I should state that I've stayed in much worse places, but this wasn't a pleasant stay. Its priced lower than the others nearby, but still not cheap, and it just seemed as though every element was designed to get you out of the door ASAP. Not a single chair to be found anywhere on site, bright hall lights that stay on 24/7, loudly shouting/singing staff members cleaning rooms at 08:00, just aggravating stuff when there's no need for any of it. The rooms were very basic, cheap mattress, tiny bathtub, clean mold if that makes any sense (they obviously clean regularly, but aren't going to redo them ever), the AC/heating and air filter were doing none of those things, and just blowing horrible smelling air around the room. Again, if this was a wilderness spot for a cheap trekking bunk, it would be fine, but for the money and the popular location, it just felt like a deliberate choice to keep it as is to maximize profit margins. Location was great, staff were polite but not helpful (eg. I asked if they could recommend any nice dinner options (in chinese) and they just said "no", lol), overall the hotel itself was just the low-point of an otherwise great visit and really didn't need to be. If I go back and this is the only hotel available, I will choose to camp instead.
