Excellent location, close to SW Coastal Path.
Nothing really.

Very very clean. Great location. Lovely breakfast. Excellent value. Nice staff. Good linen.
Quite sparse in room. Armchair not comfortable. A bit cold and basic.

It was breathtaking beautiful. The room was warm, dry and spotless.

Great location, Decent room and friendly staff.
Breafast was not amazing. It felt like food by the lowest bidder.

Clean, lovely room, friendly staff, great location
There was an issue with the heating in my room but it was just unlucky that I went on a particularly cold night, staff did all the could, went over and beyond

Location in the Purbecks
Bus stop right outside
Ideally the walk to the Scott Arms (which is very close ) would have an off-road option!

Location is great, very close to Corfe Castle
My room was really good, not cosy or homely at all, very different to the image i saw on Booking.com, the water pressure in the shower was awful so i couldn't even get conditioner out my hair. No mirror in the room except a small vanity mirror so its impossible to do your hair

friendlyness of the staff, location and the great welcome. It was really warm and we had a nice stay
maybe a bit more hot water so we could have showered all of us with hot water

Breakfast was delicious. Staff were lovely.
It was freezing in our suite. You expect a hotel to be cosy over Christmas but it was Baltic. The sofa cushions had completely collapsed and were padded out underneath with other cushions. This place could be lovely, but it’s very tired and needs investment.

There was nothing not to like. The venue was amazing.
The room was comfy and so clean.
Julie who checked us in took interest in our visit. She was really helpful.
We were attending a Christmas Party and the meal and Staff were very attentive.
Will definitely return and recommend.
Nothing.

The room was brilliant! Large, rustic and we loved it. But it probably wouldn't be everyone's taste for a romantic jaunt. Breakfast was great - set us up for a good day's hiking.
There was only one mug and one glass!

Ease of access
The food wasn’t great, the room was overly hot. Even when the underfloor heating temp was turned to zero, it was still incredibly hot.

Beautiful property and room in the honeymoon room!
There wasn’t much evening atmosphere in the dining area.

Very nice room. Large comfortable bed. Nice bathroom with bath as well as shower. Generally quiet. Breakfast also good choice and quality. Evening meal was reasonably priced and good quality, although not a huge choice. The property is located within a short walk of the nearby village which has a pub but not a lot else. Staff were all friendly and helpful.

We were delighted to be told on arrival we had a free upgrade 😊. Our room was very clean, well furnished with a very comfortable bed and seating area with a large TV. A large bathroom/wet room was very clean with nice free toiletries. Ample supplies of tea & coffee; if you ran out the staff were more than happy to provide more if requested. The area was lovely and really quiet. Breakfast was extremely good. The cooked breakfast was lovely and hot, and of high quality, providing an ample amount to set you up for the day, with many other continental options, pastries, cereals etc. available to help yourself. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and very willing to help. Overall a wonderful stay, thank you!

Breakfast was excellent. Liked the fact that the restaurant was open every night for dinner. Alternative bed coverings were supplied when asked.
Rooms were basic in the way of furnishings. Lack of any mats, curtains, cushions made it seem clinical and not that inviting.

By far the best thing about this hotel was the service. The staff were amazing and couldn’t do more to help.
The other great thing about this property is the location.
The food was in all honestly not great. I say food, I only had dinner but left both dishes I ordered. Dessert was probably the worst. I actually ate elsewhere the next night. (Breakfast looked good though so maybe give that a try)
The other thing to be aware of if you stay here (and it may have just been my room) is that the walls seemed to be paper thin between rooms. I could hear the couple next door chatting. It didn’t help that they had a baby which was obviously unsettled as babies are (I’m a Dad so nothing against that) but it obviously meant I could hear all of that through the walls when trying to sleep.

Everything was great

Beautiful setting and location. The staff were exceptional, really friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and cosy and we loved the purbeck stone wall. The breakfast was delicious with a great deal of choice on the menu. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked.
We had planned to eat out whilst exploring Swanage however there was no availability as we hadn’t booked in advance. We decided to eat dinner at the restaurant at the hotel. It was a small menu which had some great choices however the food was just ok and we were left disappointed as we were looking forward to a nice evening meal. Overpriced and not good value for more when considering portion size and quality.

The staff were friendly.
The service was very slow, from waiting for 10 minutes to check in to waiting for an hour in the restaurant for our food to come! The room was OK, although on arrival the toilet hadn't been flushed and the floors were soaking wet. We had to use the bath mat to dry the floor which turned filthy brown, showing that the floors had been soaked rather than cleaned... the bed was comfy but our room was furnished in a very sparse and utilitarian way, making it feel cold and unfriendly. The material on the chairs smelt of wet dog...It didn't help that we stayed on a very stormy night, all the doors rattled through the night and there was a lot of noise coming from upstairs.
The restaurant also had a "cold" rather sad feel with bad lighting, hard chairs and music with a heavy bass that was intrusive. Considering most of the diners were over 50 it seemed that it was on to please the staff rather than us! When we had breakfast although the food was good there were 3 dogs in the breakfast room which caused a bit of disturbance.
Also, we had been notified through Booking.com that the restaurant would be unavailable for evening meals during our stay, so I had done quite a bit of research on alternatives, the hotel even recommending some places. When we arrived we were told it wasn't closed after all, that had been last month! After dining there, I rather wish it had been closed.

Arrived and were advised that we had been upgraded, to the Honeymoon suite! Four poster bed, large bath (and shower) mood lighting. Very nice room. Selection of items for breakfast and easy to park.

Lovely location and staff. Food and drink lovely x
No curtain or screen for the shower basically a wet room. Shower head right next to the toilet and everything gets wet. Spent time drying off bathroom to make it usable

Welcoming and helpful staff.
Comfortable and warm room and beds.
Good to have two arm chairs to sit in.
Good choices at breakfast.
We were disappointed to find that the only way to take a shower was to get everywhere else wet too! As older people we were a bit concerned that one of us might slip and end up with an injury, so sadly we decided not to use the shower at all. Also had I used it I would have had to wash and dry my hair after each shower as without a hand-held shower head I couldn't angle the flow in any way.

Tony and the breakfast ladies were very friendly
- thank goodness for the local pub nearby 'Scott Arms', 5 minute walk, although when checking in we were told it was approx. 20min walk?? - attention to detail a miss
We had a upstairs/downstairs Forest view suite - the downstairs was quite oppressive, window looked out onto courtyard which was essentially a carpark for other residents (loud small stones didn't help). Room was extremely dated, sofa unusable, cushions and springs have clearly passed their usable age, brick wall at the back of the room made the room claustrophobic. Shower above the bath: water went everywhere and soaked the floor.
Room was 'cleaned' whilst we were out on second day: bed made and towels replaced - dirty glasses were left dirty, floor was not cleaned, bathroom floor was left with hair all over the floor.
Garden area needs some life put into it - very bare no plants or any ambience
Breakfast - cooked offering was not good - greasy and not well cooked
6.0 / 10.0
Location. Bed was excellent. Gardens very nice.
Dated. Room not quite up to the description and certainly was not deluxe. Toilet seat broken and decor very dated. Tv was positioned poorly and the wooden floor as advertised was a carpet. The breakfast on day 1 was awful. Tepid food, tepid tea, poor quality ingredients (sausage was awful and undercooked. The mushroom
was raw ) Not once were we asked how our food was and despite the issues I would have not asked for a replacement as it put me off. Day two was so
much better and tea was hot and choice of hot food was hot and tasted good. However despite having one chef and 5 staff it took an age to take the order and it was recorded inaccurately.
The courtyard had so much potential but was arranged without any idea of making it inviting and needed a good rearrange. The check in process was poor. We arrived a few minutes early and happily waited for the chance to go to our room. A few others arrived after us and we were forgotten. We were then asked to check in for second time !
The place could and should be wonderful. But it appeared to lack any energy and enthusiasm from staff. One young person took about 5 minutes to sweep up a few leaves. At check in the whole area around the reception was swamped by laundry bags. It was so scruffy. Thought should be had in these things surely.
I have no idea how it receives so many 10/10 reviews. Because we just never got a 10/10 experience on any aspect apart from the bed maybe ?!
We don’t normally make complaints or usually review in this manner. But on this rare occasion it is merited.

Lovely room - however up very steep stairs which were difficult for our old dog . Had we known we had to use stairs to get to the room we would have said no. We ended up carrying a 34kg labrador up and down to the room. Great spot and friendly staff.
Few too many flies for my liking - it's a farm area but a lot of flies, including in the breakfast area. Very limited menu for dinner but a good pub not far away.

Rooms are spacious but bare bones. Bathroom looked like the hose-down cubicle of a prison, and had mould in the grout. Breakfast was borderline inedible. I've never in my life had poached eggs so hard you couldn't cut them. Really not good at all

Super dog friendly which was our main priority for this trip. Rooms were very clean and comfy with friendly and helpful staff. Lovely garden area with nice views over the fields to Corfe Castle. Good breakfast

Beautiful setting, gorgeous rooms, very nice restaurant. Really very pretty. Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Huge bed with quality linens. Everything you could need, spacious and pet friendly.
Wet room was slippy after use which would not matter if the toilet was in a different location.

Wonderfully dog friendly!
