Metaxa Hotel

I'll start with the pluses - good price - excellent location - nice looking hotel from the outside However, the minuses outweighed the pluses for us personally - it was written on the website that you can check in until 11 pm. We arrived at the reception at 9:45 pm. First, a young woman took our documents and returned them. Then an older man came who wanted the documents again, and he didn't even know that we had already given them to the girl before. He was not very pleasant or helpful, he only asked us where we will go the next night since we were not staying at their hotel. He then asked us for the city tax, which according to the Agoda website should have been paid. He gave us 5 minutes until he left - the reception closes at 10 (again. check in is till 11 pm). - The room was a disappointment. Although she did not look the worst, a big plus was that she had a balcony with a nice view. However, the fridge was extremely dirty (I am attaching a photo), there was old food. So, God knows if they cleaned our room. The air conditioner was there, but we didn't have a controller for it. Same for TV. We tried calling them, but they didn't pick up. Of course, man was no longer at the reception. So we had to ventilate, so that it was possible to breathe there. For one night, for this price, you can have much nicer and cleaner apartments in the area - we saw many of them and regretted choosing this particular hotel.

On arrival, as we handed passports in we were told “no food from the supermarkets to be eaten at the pool, only in your room or balcony” “no drinks from outside only from snack bar” “do not whistle at the parrot” “you need to pay the tax now”… Our room was very basic but clean. The pool is lovely, beach is 6-7 min walk & centre is about 3 mins. Good location for everything. Great cocktails got 7 euros in resort. Eurocar hire were great & reasonable. Happy traveler 4 in 1 excursion disappointing, no turtles & more a 1.5 in 1 but we enjoyed our stay overall.
