Price, breakfast, location

From the moment we got to the Westleigh, Dave was so welcoming. He let us into our room straight away, carried my suitcase upstairs and even offered us a different room if it was going to help me, as a young woman with mobility problems this kindness goes an awfully long way. The room was exceptionally clean, the bed is probably the most comfortable bed i've ever slept in (including my own!) And was fully eqipped with 2 towels each, a hair dryer, mini toiletries, a full length mirror and a smart TV. The sea view was beautiful. Included in our stay was a continental breakfast with a range of bread, cereal, jam, juices and also a beautiful full English which was exceptionally generous with the portion sizes. Dave had also taken our breakfast orders the moment we got there which gave a really personal touch. The dining room also had a coffee machine which you rarely see in small B&Bs which was great for me as someone who loves a frothy coffee over ground coffee. Dave even made us our drinks which are usually self service. He took interest in our plans and gave great recommendations for places to eat/drink and taxies in the area. On our second morning, Dave had saved us the sea view table for our breakfast which we found incredibly thoughtful. Our towels were changed and beds were made after only one night and we found this attention to detail exceeded our expectations. Really beautiful stay at the Westleigh and will 100% be returning next time im visiting Morecambe.

Only other thing that would help is a bathroom matt to save a wet/slippy floor after a shower but this is such a minor detail.

Location. Room was lovely. Large, clean and warm. Smart TV and excellent wifi. Dave was very friendly and told me all I needed to know about eating places etc. Breakfast was fabulous ( and big! ). This is how a B&B should be run. Will definitely stay here again if I’m in this area.

The water pressure was not great but that is a area problem not the owner's .

The bedroom was large, very clean, and had beautiful sea view. The two chairs in the bedroom were very comfortable to sit on, and much appreciated in such a spacious room. The lovely big double glazed window kept out traffic noise, and kept the temperature in the room very pleasant. We were welcomed by each of our hosts, and very much enjoyed our breakfast which was freshly cooked, varied and served very hot. It was an excellent overnight stop after a long drive from south of England, and before another drive up to Scotland.

Very convenient to everything. Plenty of off site parking. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was excellent. A great place to stay.

Absolutely lovely little b and b Dave was fantastic and very helpful. Top floor room with Seaview beautiful definitely got steps in with the stairs. Would definitely return.

Great value in this day and age. The proprietor Dave did an excellent job - very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. Absolutely excellent for a B&B. Would return if back in the area again. Good breakfast as well to fill you up for the day.

The duvet was a little on the small side if it was 2 people sharing the double bed.

The en suite was very small if we had to criticise anything, but clean and good hot water.

I have stopped at many B&Bs over the years when on walking holidays and for work. Perhaps over a hundred. I can honestly say that this is the worst place that I have ever stayed at. I have slept at better bunk barns. The only decent part of my visit was the welcome from the proprietor and the sea view from our room. Everything else was awful. The lobby, the stairs, and the landings were just about acceptable, if you enjoy mock-tudor black timbers, and what I call Christmas cake icing walls. Having said that, these areas were quite clean. But; the room. The only way to describe it is that it was grotty. Everything was done on the cheap. From the worn carpet, wall decorations, the bed, and the bathroom. I have never seen toilet paper so thin. The tiny bathroom smelt mouldy, so neither my wife and I used the shower. I didn’t even shave. Just wanted to get out of the place. The breakfast was just about okay. Although my wife said that her bacon would make good shoe leather. We booked and paid for two nights, but one was enough; and we left. I’ve looked at some of the reviews for Westleigh, and I am very suspicious of how genuine most of them are. There are a load of nines and tens which is beyond incredible. Even the Midland Hotel only gets an average of eight, and that is a million miles from the Westleigh. I suspect fakery from friends and relatives. There are a few sixes and sevens that are probably genuine, and these have been responded to by the proprietor. He loses his friendly bon homme by using phrases such as “Very Selfish. Just hope you get treated like you treated us!! Please do not book the Westleigh B and B again.”, and “From the Check in you had a Face ON”, and other totally unprofessional comments. As a general comment about Morecambe: the sea frontage and side streets reminded me of one of those post-apocalyptic movies. Street after street of boarded up shops that have been in that state for decades; the small of wacky baccy all over the place.

Spacious and excellently clean room for our overnight stay. Fabulous Sea view. Dave is an excellent host and knowledgeable about the area.

Easy to locate, on street parking. Welcoming staff and spotlessly clean. With a great breakfast included, it’s excellent value for money. The seafront views are great from the room. Satellite TV was a good bonus

Only street parking available if you can find a space in front. Not a problem as plenty of parking nearby. TV signal not great in our room
