The hotel is very close to the train station, within walking distance (10 minutes) to the beach and a 15 minute walk to the laundromat and huge shopping centre.
Although there are two huge sets of steps at the front, there is a ramp behind the hotel and there is also doors at the bottom of the steps, then you can use a lift.
Our room was #312. It faced the houses behind. No views except the dentist and some of the street. This encouraged us to get out and look at the area, which is lovely.
Aircon - worked a little. We slept with windows open for coolness.
In the room there was a small mini bar fridge. No kettle. Good towels, a bath and lovely hot water. The bed wasn't comfy and the staff gave us more soft toppers to use. The pillows were great.
One thing to be aware of are the church bells. Don't expect to sleep in past 6am as the bells start. But they don't ring on 6. Its a random ring. Then at around 7, 8 and 9. Then whenever. So pack earplugs!!
The hotel is near to the beach. It well worth a stroll. Sometimes at low tide, there are soccer games on the beach. At high tide, there's surfing! Great waves.
Zarautz is amazing for families, with plenty of park areas and playgrounds. Streets are safe and Zarautz is SO CLEAN and tidy. People take pride in their city.
The hotel staff were lovely. Those who work there are some of the nicest people we have met. Smiling, happy, kind. It made our stay great.
We recommend this hotel to anyone and especially those in the Camino pilgrimage.
