Don’t stay here!

Nothing. Genuinely poor hotel. The room smelt of cigarettes, the water was freezing and the room too and clearly decrepit and uncared for.

All of the above. The worst stay I have ever had. Aggressive Ann’s angry staff. I can’t recommend enough to find somewhere else to stay!

I spent a lovely week at the Hotel de la Paix, which allowed me to enjoy my stay fully.

Great location near the city centre. Bed was very comfortable. Very helpful staff, professional, supportive, kind. Clean set of towels left in the room every single day, as well as clean pillowcases and clean bedsheets. Lots of room in the cupboard to hang and store own clothes during my stay. Cab booked on my behalf by staff the day before I left the hotel for the ferry terminal located in Ouistreham.

Paper-thin walls, which allowed guests to be heard from the hall or their bedrooms, sometimes. Would have liked to have been sent the code to the hotel entrance via email or showing on my booking summary sheet, prior to my checking-in. The services sheet on display in the bedroom should be updated (no coffee machine available, currently, etc). Wi-fi code should be in the bedroom, near the router, etc, for easy access. Heater/radiator took some time (not always, though) to switch on and get warm. Vis-a-vis view of other people's flats opposite the hotel. Would have preferred a view over the Port de Plaisance or the Vaugueux/Tour Leroy.

this is the hotel I would choose if I were a backpacker

Nothing special about this hotel apart from the location which is perfect. However this can be a curse too if you are with a car since parking is available on the street only. Small rooms, no elevator, pretty Spartan and a bit dated. For 55€ it worked for me for 1 night. And I slept like a baby.

Location in the center of Caen. Very clean and big room for very small pirce. Now im staying in the Mercure hotel and, really, dont see big difference.

Easy to book at short notice and very helpful staff.

The manager was really helpful when we arrived from the ferry port very late in the evening. He advised where not to park our car as there was a market in the morning.

It was a really noisy room because of how busy the street is on a Saturday night - but it is in the centre of town so that can't really be helped. We had to book the room at very short notice because of a ferry cancellation so we were glad to find somewhere.
