Attention to detail was 5*, amazing breakfast, Freddie the host was incredibly friendly and helpful, the alpine suite had everything including a sauna, lounge area, balcony, great views, bath robes, powerful shower, complimentary toiletries & teas/coffee, large TV, very large & extremely comfortable bed & room. The location was perfect with parking outside, river and Mountain View’s and only a few minutes walk into to town for restaurants, bars, the bus and cable car/chair lifts. Cannot recommend enough.

A minor negative is we could hear the traffic early mornings and in the evening as our windows were open (in the summer) but it wasn’t a problem for us.

Bed was comfortable and breakfast was good.

Maybe it was just because we arrived in summer (off season), but I was unimpressed by Romantik villa Cesanueva. For one, what limited staff there are checked out much of the time. We had to search around the property to find someone who could check us in. Same thing applied at checkout - there was no one at the front desk when it was time for us to leave, so we departed without paying local tourist tax. The restaurant was closed for summer, as was the bar. Breakfast was nice, though. As for the room, it was fine. There were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, and in the bathroom, a couple fixtures were either loose or broken (toilet paper holder, stop in the sink). Worst part was that the window in our bedroom was directly above the neighbor’s balcony. They were smokers, so we had a constant waft of cigarette smoke when we left the window open. Generally, for “four star” hotel, it was not up to par.
