Woodbury Tented Camp – Amakhala Game Reserve

Our one-night stay at Woodbury Tented Camp was an incredible experience from beginning to end. The food was amazing, and having drinks included made the whole stay feel extra special and completely relaxing. Of course, the safari was the real highlight — absolutely unforgettable! Our guide, Jesse, was fantastic, especially with our 9-year-old son. He went out of his way to find animals and made the safari exciting and fun for all of us. Our son loves animals and had a spotter chart to complete, and Jesse happily helped him tick off the animals as we went along. By the end of the safari, our son was telling Jesse that he wanted to become a safari guide when he grows up — quite a change from always wanting to be a footballer! Jesse really made the experience memorable and was brilliant at making our son feel involved. An amazing safari experience that we will all remember for a very long time. We had a family tented lodge of one tent with a bathroom and another tent next door, which was close to the main dining lodge and pool. The electric blankets were fantastic and very welcomed. The pools were incredible and great for relaxing. The dining area was beautiful and great to sit and spot animals which chatting to fellow safari friends. It was my birthday and they made it really special with cake and bubbles. We would happily return and definitely recommend it.

An amazing Safari, this was a first for us and we didn’t know what to expect. The tents were greateven in the rain and slight wind that we had, it’s great because after a morning game ride and breakfast you have time for a nap if you didn’t have the perfect nights sleep. Greg our game host was brilliant, a credit to the team. The food and beverages were great, we were worried 3 nights was too long at first but it was all fine when we saw some amazing sights on our last game drive.

Everything was amazing, really friendly staff and they really make your stay unforgettable.

This is a very authentic experience. The reserve is vast and the conservation is fantastic. Our guide Tim was tremendous along with all the staff. The tented camp was very comfortable and the food delicious. It’s not a pretentious experience. We bought out children and they had fallen in love with the natural world after a few days here. We love Amakhala

It isn’t a 5* luxury hotel - we don’t want to feel like we were in Dubai.
