Château Puygrenier

Le cadre est magnifique. Vieille maison ou plutot ancien chateau qui regorge d''anecdote. Plusieurs grand arbres datant de 1780 sur la propriété, un fais assez rare pour le souligner. Les propriétaires sont très accessibles et au petit soin.

Manque clim dans la suite mais sera prochaine installé. Sur le reste RAS juste parfait

Das junge Besitzerpaar ist super nett und hilfsbereit. Am ersten Abend haben wir das selbst gekochte Abendessen probiert, es war sehr lecker und wurde im Garten des Hauses unter den Bäumen serviert Die Jungs haben sich über den Pool gefreut, und in der Nacht konnte man von dort den wunderbaren Sternenhimmel beobachten. Wir hatten die beiden Schlafzimmer im Erdgeschoss hinter der Treppe und konnten direkt zum Pool und hatten zwei Bäder. Die Betten waren sehr bequem und hätten es noch länger ausgehalten. Es war ein toller Ausgangspunkt für unsere Saint Emilion Erkundung. Ein wunderbarer Ort zur Entschleunigung

The property is in a beautiful location. We had an amazing dinner sitting on the grass under the trees (I am still thinking about the fabulous cucumber gazpacho soup). There were lovely staff who were very friendly and made us feel at home and our dog was also very welcome. We had a lovely,relaxing stay.

The location is perfect to explore the Dordogne region. Our room was clean and very spacious. We had plenty of storage. Breakfast was as expected; bread, pastries, jam, cereal, coffee and juice.

We pre-booked an evening meal for our first night, as we had a long drive that day. But when we arrived at Chateau Puygrenier we were told that the meal was cancelled due to the kitchen being... too hot! This was hugely disappointing after arriving tired and hungry with 2 small children. We had to make a 1-hour round trip looking for dinner in a rural part of France that we did not know. This casual attitude towards guests was a recurring feature of our stay. The Château does have good potential but is in need of some serious attention. Simple things like watering the plants out front, maintaining weeds and replacing broken sun beds by the pool and breakfast chairs would help. The breakfast is simple, but acceptable, and taken outside. But the cushions on the plastic garden chairs are not taken in at night so they were sodden each morning. For light sleepers, it is important to note that the walls are quite thin so we could hear noise around the chateau from our room. However, this is to be expected in an old building. Overall, the whole experience felt very casual and amateur rather than a professionally run guesthouse. Being greeted by the owners walking around in their bare feet when we returned from dinner on the first evening, reminded me of backpacking and staying in a hostel.
