a quiet location to contemplate and enjoy the ocean

* I liked the whole facility, all area, gardens, villas, restaurant (there was a lot of trash on the beach, but it's not the property's fault because the ocean constantly throws it ashore) * The staff in the restaurant and room service were very nice and polite, * lawns and gardens were well kept and clean, I liked trees with flowers and small pools with colourful fish at the entrance to the apartments * the beakfast was plentiful and tasty, we could choose 1 of 3 dishes in menu * nice view of the ocean from everywhere: from swimming pool, from restaurant, from the bathroom in our appartment * there was kettle and tea in the room * there were electric mosquito repellents in the room, although we didn't use them because there were no mosquitoes at all in September; however, it was nice that they were ready to use * extra towels to take with to the swimming pool area * location was nice, I recommend a walk along the beach, where you can find many interesting places, but if you go to the village by road, you won't find anything interesting, there is nothing to do in the surroundings. But it didn't bother us, because we chose this place to relax.

* what I didn't like most was no e-mail contact, they offered to organize transport, but when we asked by e-mail or booking how much the transfer from Ubud would cost, there was no answer, we organized it by ourselves. If my e-mails wouldn't have been ignored, I would give 9 note. * the bottom of the pool needs renovation because some of the ceramic tiles fell off and it looked messy

Right on the beach, good breezes, air con in rooms and best surf 🏄!

The property is on the beach and is large. It has everything you need. I liked the massage here, better than the other one in the street, and the views of the surf. We were watching the surfers all the time and my hubby had a great time surfing. Also loved Nikki’s yoga classes up the road, strong but fantastic too. We had a relaxing stay overall.

Nothing, it could do with a strong water pressure over all the outdoor paths and stones to bring it back that’s all. It was all lovely. Great breakfast included too!

Was staying 2 nights got our as quick as I could after first night in the morning didn’t even stay for breakfast

I left after one night It was disgusting no mini fridge toilet had no brush to clean , there was rats it felt very un safe I asked for refund I haven’t heard back I was staying 2 nights

Fabulous beachfront location. Comprehensive menu at restaurant. Spa treatments available. Room was rustic but clean and comfortable with outdoor bathroom. Swimming pool and ocean view room.

Messaged property saying would arrive earlier than check in time to go surf - no reply. Arrived and just wanted to put my stuff somewhere to go surf skate - suggested I leave my things in the floor - despite the allocated room being empty The double bed I’d booked was two singles pushed together Went down for coffee 07:30 - all staff there - but told we don’t open till 8. Included breakfast was different to one on menu and was disgusting. Everything you ask for is apology but not possible. Great spot but would never stay again. Appalling customer service - avoid.

Awesome location and the rooms, grounds, staff and facilities are great and at a reasonable price.

Fantastic location right on the beach with views to the surf break from the pool and restaurant. Rooms were very cute Balinese style and grounds were well maintained and the staff very attentive and friendly. Short walk to several other warungs and restaurants.

The bathrooms in the rooms need to be updated as were a bit small and quite tired. Also could maintain the access to the beach a lot better as there was a lot of logs and some rubbish straight out in front which made access not the easiest and would be simple to clean up.

Super quiet location and great access to the surf

It’s right on the beach. Great for surfers. It’s at the end of a road so very little traffic to contend with. Traditional Balinese type rooms with beautiful gardens.

It needs a couple of minor things like a fridge in the room and mosquito netting. The restaurant staff need to be better trained in customer service as they stand around talking unless you specifically call them over. The rooms are very basic but functional.

The perfect stay

Everything is right there, husband could surf as many times as he liked right out the front, we could watch and swim in the pool and eat, no waiting around for him and he didn’t have to feel guilty for going for so many surfs. Surf was amazing and not crowded. Staff were great. We stayed in the river house and it was fantastic. Massage was really good. Food was great and well priced. We’ll definitely stay there again but for longer next time. Only has 4 nights but could easy do 7.

Awesome place.

The best location in Balian!. Good sized room in a traditional Balinese style. I like the semi outdoor bathroom, it gives you that tropical feel. The room had a small sea view from the bathroom which was nice. Breakfast was nice and filling, perfect after an early morning surf.

Would have been nice to have a refrigerator in the room or at least a communal refrigerator to store drinks etc. Also the sliding door to the bathroom was very difficult to move.

Great value for money, suitable for quiet escapes and surfing

Beautiful location on the beach. Very well kept complex with very friendly staff. Good food on the menu which was very reasonably priced, with some local bars and restaurants also providing similar quality at good prices. Local shops 15 minutes away which was helpful when the hotel ran out of coconuts.

The location is quite isolated from the main tourist area so long drives were needed to visit anywhere. The beach is more suitable for surfing than swimming with a strong riptide. When they ran out of coconuts on our second day they didn’t restock which was annoying.

Convenient for surfing

Good spot if you're on a surfing trip. Leave the partner and kids and have a surf. My room was very basic with no bar fridge which I think is must to keep milk and water cold. Also walls between basic rooms are wafer thin. My issue is not so much with the property as some of the guests on my stay. It was nyepi time so guests expected to be silent and respectful yet many let their kids run riot screaming and yelling all day. Pool was available on this day but was small and full of kids so go figure.

Beautiful

I always stay at Pondok Pitaya in Balian - it’s a tradition for me. I love supporting places like this, old Balinese hotels that preserve the traditional style, beautiful gardens, and the true spirit of Bali. This is exactly what brought me here back in 2018, and it’s the reason I keep coming back.

One thing that could be improved is the music in the café. It would be great to hear something more traditional or calm and chill, rather than loud pop tracks that don’t quite match the vibe of the place. The only other downside is the price, which feels about 20% higher than expected, especially with cheaper options nearby. Still, I return every time because this place has become a meaningful part of my Bali experience.

Great surf spot to stay!!

The Pondok Pitaya is a great location for a family of surfers. We enjoyed our stay in the Happy House with a clean and spacious room with 6 beds, it was comfortable and affordable. The view of the surf was great from the pool area with a clean (sort of) and great pool to hang out at for the day. There are many places to go for walks up the streets and many mini marts and restaurants but nothing more to do than what is available at the hotel and surf for an activity unless you want to drive. The staff were very friendly.

A major issue here for our family and many others which we spoke to there was the staff lacking in communication and service, we had to wait approximately 1 hour for each meal (nothing too fancy either, just a regular fish and chips) and the opening hours of the restaurant were very short going from 8am - 9pm. The only other minor issues for us was the wifi, it was incredibly slow and hard sometimes to access the internet, emails, movies etc., and the hot water was very limited to only 1 minute of hot water and then it would be cold for the next person/s to use the shower. Overall, would highly recommend to families and people who enjoy yoga as there are yoga classes there (although we don't do yoga) and we would definitely stay here again.
