Hacienda El Porvenir by Tierra del Volcan

Hacienda El Porvenir was one of the highlights of our trip to Ecuador. The setting is simply breathtaking, with spectacular views towards Cotopaxi and beautiful grounds that perfectly capture the atmosphere of the Ecuadorian Andes. The entire hacienda is full of character, immaculately maintained, and offers a genuine, authentic experience. The 4-hour horseback ride was outstanding and worth every penny. The horses were well cared for, the guides were professional, knowledgeable and friendly, and the scenery throughout the ride was incredible. Returning to the hacienda for lunch was the perfect finish to a fantastic morning. The food was excellent throughout our stay, and every member of staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. If you're visiting Cotopaxi National Park, I honestly can't think of a better place to stay. We would return without hesitation and highly recommend Hacienda El Porvenir to anyone looking for an authentic, high-quality Andean experience.

Loved staying at the Hacienda and was one of the highlights of our trip to Ecuador. Room #1 was fantastic and the bathroom was great with hot water and other amenities. The fireplace was incredible, although it got too hot to sleep and we needed to open up the windows. Highlights were also the hiking on Trail A to the waterfall, horseback riding to see the three volcanoes and the incredible food, which was fantastic!

Loved it all except the road leading up to the mountain.

Location is great and the facility is both rustic and luxurious service. The food is a mix of international with a touch of Traditional Ecuadorian. The staff is kind and helpful. I would recommend this place to travelers.

Excellent and attentive staff. Delicious food at the restaurant. Cozy common living area. Vast property for exploring trails by foot, horseback, or by bike, in the shadow of the magnificent Cotopaxi volcano. The birds and butterflies in the area are constantly darting around the flowered gardens.

We did not have our own vehicle so getting to the property was challenging. We got a transfer to Machachi, then needed to find a truck to take us to the property as the roads are rough so a typical taxi won't take you all the way. It's a bit confusing because there are two properties with the same name, one much lower on the mountain than the other.
