Hotel Elena was a great stop off in Stresa. Laura manages the place smoothly and efficiently. Good communication and a lovely breakfast. Was able to leave luggage as arrived before check in. For the price it was a bargain. Highly recommend. Great location on a lively piazza - great for people watching from the balcony. Noise level quietens after 2200.
Only 3 min walk to ferry to access all towns on the lake. https://www.navigazionelaghi.it/biglietti-e-orari-lago-maggiore/ to easily book online tickets or get at the ferry terminal. 3 min walk to bus to Lake Orta. 10 min walk to train station.

Very spacious rooms, ideal for a family of 4 with little kids.

Decent Italian breakfast.
Nice balcony on the pedestrian square.
The style of the hotel is stuck in the 80s.
You should replace the old sheets and blankets with new duvets.
Little bathroom but can't do much about that.

Location looks over main Stresa Piazza with much to see all day. Excellent position, central & close to all. Excellent & very healthy breakfast daily sourced from local foods as I asked the hostess. Food lovely,good all cotton sheets in non air-con hotel, price reflects no air-con & can assure can whip up Aperol Spritz in seconds for 7e. any time of day. Felt price reflected the offering very well. A little underwhelmed by Sybil as we christened the owner, as she reminded us of Sybil in Fawlty Towers so we had fun thinking of her as Sybil as only the English can & she was so like Sybil in Fawlty TV show.
To Owner, of Hotel Elena, please don't be offended but you never offered us your name to address you.

Excellent location, very central, close to the public parking and the lake. Be informed that there is a busy piazza underneath.
The room was very very dusty. We were travelling with our two toddlers and the only thing we wanted was a clean room but it was not. The toilet was used and not clean and the room was full of dust. The curtains used to be white in the past, but now they are grey. The room has not been properly cleaned for months.
When i showed the owner the toilet she agreed that is not clean and send someone to clean it, when we left for a walk. But finally only the toilette was cleaned (i also sprayed with Dettol afterwards), the thick layer of dust remained on all the surfaces (on the fridge, on the desk, on the TV, on the windows). Also we realized that on one of the single beds that the kids were supposed to sleep, the sheets has stains of moisture. The elevator has no light and the room is very hot with only a ceiling fan.
