Hotel Sassongher

Great place, great views, great skis. The hotel had lots of benefits. Saro is just the best of all people who work there.

90% of the higher-ups keep putting a fake smile in front of customers. Once you need something, don’t expect cooperation. Everyone was helpful while we were there but the moment we were leaving and asked for an invoice, we were categorically denied it by reception, accounting, and even the owner. They agreed to our terms once I used my legal rights. Unfortunately, turned out all those smiles in the lobby were fake.

The hotel is located at the end of the road on the hill far away from any slopes, without hotel ski bus, it will be a huge effort to carry your stuff up and down. Hotel ski bus runs frequently but it ends at 18pm every day, which means if you are drinking at a hut on the slope, better check your watch from time to time and make sure you finish the after ski party before 18 to catch up the last hotel ski bus. Hotel room space is ok, but all the facilities are old. Extremely small bathroom without window. Public facilities like jacuzzi, sauna, relaxing room are newly decorated, but completely no service, no towels or limited towels in public area, no receptionist welcome at the leisure area, - consider the room price and the “five star” hotel title, this is something not matching. We ordered 2 cocktails, 1 bottle of red wine (50EUR), 1 bottle of water, 2 bottles of coke, they didn’t confirm the bill with us at the last day when we checked out. I came to the receptionist and asked please confirm the bill - they said your partner paid. Eventually my partner credit card sent him a message one day later said 150 EUR was deducted by the hotel, for those drinks we consumed in total. Hotel buffet was nice, food is decent, but again as a five star hotel with this kind of price, they don’t offer you any seasonal fruits. We can imagine this is a very old famous hotel in the past years, they did efforts to develop something new for the public facilities but completely missing to develop service to match with this price. We have been to Alta Badia almost every year, we don’t want to point out the name for other great reasonable price hotels we have been stayed to avoid suspicious that we are doing advertising, but for this one, I just want to say you don’t get what you paid for.

I would highly recommend Hotel Sassongher. I have travelled the world and stayed in many good hotels but Sassongher is another level. Best staff, wonderful rooms, excellent facilities, buonissimo food. I love this hotel and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys excellent service in the most beautiful location.

Great service, pleasant, friendly but always professional. Location is great and all facilities although some need updating. Loved my stay and everyone I came across was great, from the Front Desk, over restaurant, piano bar to SPA

More as a suggestion: - sauna did not work 2 days - USB socket would be great - higher table in the room so you can put your laptop on it - covered parking to avoid scrubbing snow, ice and frost every morning - have coffee available in the bar earlier, as after breakfast there is not place to get cappuccino until 12

Breakfast was excellent. It had one of the best concierges I have ever met and staff always had a smile in ther face! Besides the view of the valley is amazing and the outdoor jacuzzi has a great view too.
