The only comment is we wanted a spa treatment as advertised on the brochure at 8 am but it wasn’t available on Froday 2 May 2025, only at 09:30 which was to late for our itinerary. In Johannesburg.

The communication between us was awful. We had to send more than four messages jut to get a dinner table for Christmas lunch. Also we had to insist that as guests of the hotel we had to plead for them to make a plan. Secondly we were told it would be R650 per person but ended up with a bill of R2400. It would h to have been nice to have full information to make a better decision. Thirdly why do the rooms not all have access for USB gadgets? IN a fancy boutique hotels why is the technology up to scratch? Fourthly, why is there no access to a better package for DSTV? No access to Netflx or you tube? Too cheap for a boutique hotel. Fifthly the staff were very lovely Xolisa and her team treated us so well. Thank you. Some better protocols and decorum would improve across the hotel. Silence and less noise among the team would make the atmosphere. Finally those housekeeping carts in front of the rooms are just tacky. There has to be a way to clean in a more discreet manner. The Spa was lovely, however the lack of knowledge about the products sold was a huge disappointment. We relaxed, the rooms were beautiful though 22 is dark and the lighting needs to be improved. The bedding was lovely and the air conditioning was lovely.

My wife and I spent 2 nights at the Fairlawns this past week. It's the second time I've stayed there. It's kind of a quirky hotel - classic old school, but the exterior needs a bit of a face lift with some elements looking a little tied. Some of the rooms also need a refresh - the furniture is nice but some of the beds a closer to a stone then a bed.
The staff, restaurant, food and breakfast are great.
All and in all I would recommend staying here for sure.
