The Diplomat Hotel

Location perfect staff friendly professional and helpful at all times. Breakfast was good and cafe in the lobby was fabulous mainly due to the man who worked there.

Hairdryer in the bathroom was dreadful. Pool area was not very accessible for my partner who has mild walking difficulties.Also the only toilets available when sitting in the lobby are up 3 flights as was the courtesy room.

The location was perfect, with breathtaking views that made our stay even more special. Every member of staff was warm, friendly and incredibly accommodating, always happy to help with anything we needed. A special mention goes to the reception team for their excellent service and to the breakfast staff, especially the Nigerian gentleman, who was absolutely superb—his friendliness, professionalism and genuine warmth made every breakfast a pleasure.

The rooms were a little outdated and not quite what I expected from a 4 star hotel. They were clean, well equipped and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, but the furniture felt old and tired and would really benefit from a refurbishment. That said, the foyer and bar area were modern, stylish and created a great first impression.

Great location overlooking the promenade and about 15 minutes walk to the ferry to Valetta. Nice sea breezes this side of Sliema. Clean comfortable room. Very friendly staff, especially the restaurant staff who were so good to me as a solo traveller. Fabulous choice for breakfast. Loved the rooftop pool/ bar area, though it is small. Great little cafe in the foyer also.

A maintenance issue with the room initially, but this was fixed quickly. Small bathroom. Lots of traffic noise, especially at night. No balcony to sit out on just a small ledge.

• Hotel clearly aged — furniture and overall condition no longer match 4‑star expectations (but in general - is ok for couple of days or week) • Extremely loud rooms with sea view: located right by a busy promenade, with constant traffic noise and waves hitting the rocks • Poor soundproofing — windows let in all the noise (we recommend you to avoid booking sea-view rooms unfortunately, maybe rooms located at the end of hotel would be more quiet) • Breakfast very average for a 4‑star hotel (powdered scrambled eggs, limited choice, rather lower‑quality ingredients, awful coffee) • Breakfast room located in a dark basement with no windows • Bathrobes worn out from heavy use • Received a different room type than booked — “upgrade” to sea view turned out to be a downgrade due to noise
