Karikari Lodge

Easy to find. Fire going upon arrival - Thanks Catalina Kitchen had everything you could possibly need. Plenty of dvd's to choose from Bed was comfy. Breakfast was dimple and sweet; 2 types of cereal, 2 pieces of bread, butter, small pottle of yoghurt & little tub of fruit salad. Shower was nice and hot. Lots of little signs reminding visitors to clean up after themselves. I chose to wash my pot before heating my soup for dinner. Being the only visitor in the lodge was sensational! Cookies were tucked beside microwave - lucky I didn't find them haha I may of eaten them all!

The espresso maker was great when it worked but, a little frustrating to use at times.

Very homely and a very warm welcome. Breakfast was lovely, as were the surprise treats. If we’re in the area again, will definitely rebook. Thank you x

The room was spacious, clean, neat, and tidy.

We were not greeted by the hosts themselves but by a third person who immediately asked us for payment, even though we hadn't yet placed our luggage in the room. This felt inappropriate and made us uncomfortable. Not quite what we would expect from a lodge. That aside, our hosts were friendly. I personally found the common areas cluttered with too many objects, leaving little room to make the space my own. What was most uncomfortable was sharing the bathroom and other common areas with a group of workers, although they were polite, as the only female guest in an exclusively male environment. The parking is also tight, requiring some coordination to leave the property. Overall, the stay went well, but it was not entirely comfortable.
