Casas Do Rio Sado - Sado River Country Retreat

The excellence of the owner. Good breakfast. Nice calm place. The surroundings. The possibility of hiking within the property, with pleasant contact with nature. The wi-fi was excelent. There was a refrigerator in the room. The swimming pool size. The kid's swimming pool.

There are no restaurants nearby (you have to drive at least 13 km), but I already knew that, and, for me, it's a small price to pay to enjoy a nice calm place.

Rural location. Quiet. Friendly and amenable staff. Clean pool. Secure.

Limited parasols and sun loungers if the hotel is full. Fortunately for us, we didn't have any problems as the hotel was not full

The property is incredible. You may walk or ride a bicycle inside the property (there is a ride of 12 km). A mix of rice fields, forest... All is well thought, the maid are very kind and helpful.

No recycling !!! Totally unacceptable for a “nature” resort.... no recycling bins in the kitchen, nor in the property... we were totally shocked to see people throw empty glass bottle or plastic in the bin. To be changed ASAP ! The place is too “functional”: lack of “soul”. We missed some explanations about the production of rice... lots of mosquitos...

The place was near Lisbon like one hour by car. Pretty and isolated. The staff and the pool were nice. But by my experience I love rural tourism and this wasn't what I expected and it was too pricy for what they offer. I wished I could say nicer stuff because they were nice with me.

We were there for two nights and I don't know how people stay there more than this. For start it's far from everything at least 20km from the nearest town. It would be OK, if you had a bar or supermarket near but you're too isolated. I knew that they didn't have any fridge in the rooms only shared ones in the kitchen but you have less than half shelf to use. Two fridge for 15 rooms. The water from the pipes is awful really taste something quimical. About the rooms, it's OK, nothing too fancy. The complementary water is pipe water. The breakfast was poor bread, croissant brioche and cookies, no cake, no homemade things like jam as I would expected from rural/agro tourism type of habitation. No expressos. If you wanted an expresso you had to pay 0.80 € at the reception for a blend coffee from supermarket brand. And there was a very noisy family of 7 persons taking all the relaxing atmosphere of the place , of course I don't blame the Casas do Rio Sado but the only thing I wanted to enjoy there was peace and it wasn't peaceful at all.
