Camping Aux Portes De Cassis

Everything!!!! First thing I’d like to say is that, as we set off for the campsite our satnav said we will arrive at 1600hrs. Last check-in on the campsite was 1800hrs so all was good! Throughout the journey, traffic was heavy with everyone heading South for the Summer. I sent a message to the owner and he told me he would wait for me until 1900hrs. Then there was an accident and huge delays which meant we didn’t arrive at the site until 2230hrs. The husband and wife team were waiting for us and greeted us with open arms and a bottle of rosé wine to welcome us to their site. I have also read other reviews that have stated the site is on a main road and it’s noisy….. we genuinely forgot that we were close to the road. Occasionally we would hear a loud motorbike but didn’t feel loud to us at all. Maybe if you live somewhere quiet and rural you would not like the main road, it didn’t bother us at all. We got fresh bread delivered early morning, there is a pool table in reception. There is a little shop for essentials at reception. There is a kids play area and a gorgeous peaceful pool with no deep end so it feels safe for kids but also great for swimming lengths for fitness too. There is a free shuttle bus into town all day every day. We stayed in a lovely 3 double bedroom caravan which was perfect - very clean and all the utilities needed. The outdoor seating area on the caravan was huge; half sheltered and half not. I read a previous review about the caravans being close together and you can hear everything your neighbours are saying. This is not true. Unless you have very noisy neighbours. Yes the caravans are quite close but the outdoor tables and chairs are at opposite end to your neighbours so we didn’t hear any of our neighbours conversations. This isn’t a huge busy campsite; it is a small, personal campsite which is perfectly situated 10 minutes drive from Cassis and within short distance of some of the biggest cities on the south coast of France.

Unfortunately the laundry facilities were out of order Really small clothes airer

Staff were so helpful and friendly. The mobile home was immaculate. The pool was great. The free shuttle bus to cassis town was really handy.

We missed not having an oven and the cafe on site was closed apparently since covid which is a shame.

The advert regarding free transport was incorrect this has to be booked in advance and is not a hop on and off service as described. The location is some distance from cassis, it is too far to walk and very hilly. The deposit of £1400 which had to paid upon arrival was not mentioned at all during the booking so we were lucky enough to have someone with us who was able to afford this. Really not a good thing as we did not expect to pay this upon arrival. The site is located in what can only be described as an industrial area with a factory producing fibre glass pools and vessels opposite. The pool bar as seen in the photos was never open given it was high season and any refreshments were limited due to the fact it was Closed. I was not impressed by the site nor were the balance of 15 others in the group, We travelled by plane to France so luggage was limited so I emailed several weeks before we left to the resort regarding Linen and Towels which we were told that this was fine and was available, however upon arrival we had to wait whilst the linen was prepared and ironed and no towels were available which resulted in some of the group having to go out and purchase some. All in all not the best Holiday experience and we will not be returning given the group travels to France annually.

Clean, new, lovely people, great shuttle to Cassis. Nice pizzas on site.

The campsite is very little and our children expected some kind of entertainment in the evening. It did not bother us as we were fully relaxed!
