Nice position for party guys
My roommates put their things on the floor.

This hostel just cares about money not about guests.

Great location, lots of spots to eat and stores to visit. Great view from our room and very friendly staff.
Bathrooms were a bit messy and some didnt have toilet paper

Staff and other guests were friendly, kitchen was well equipped, bathrooms were clean.
K Road location, very noisy.

As a family with teenage daughters we had our own bathroom. The place is right in the city so food and great coffee was very close. Other travelers were respectful and the staff were friendly.
Our room was up a couple of flights of stairs.

Common area clean and well equipped for cooking
Mattress was old and needed to be replaced. Sheets were stained and dirty. Old windows with a lot of road noise from surrounding street.

Curtains of Beds are good.
Honestly, do not recommend if you are looking for a nice, sweet and familiar place to stay. The staff is very unfriendly, especially the young German woman. She doesn't even say hello even if she works there...
Sorry, this is a minimum of things I expect from someone working in this place.
I also work in a hostel and I was shocked how people ignore each other in this place. Also a window is not working properly in the dorm room. As the K Road is a very noisy street, don't expect to sleep on the weekends....

I thought Haka House franchise changed the hostel stereotype until I went to K'Road. Staff was rude. Place was outdated and falling apart. Rules weren't conducive to travelers but instead more convenient for staff.
9.0 / 10.0
Clean and comfortable room with plenty of showers and toilets available. Staff were very helpful. Very central - right on K-road beside the bus stop.
Only real issue is street noise, especially on the weekends. K-Road has a lot of clubs and bars.

Our double room was nice enough. Good location for exploring Auckland
The whole place feels quite run down. Kitchen and shared lounge are far too small for the number of guests, particularly when large groups were drinking in there and being quite rowdy, no space to cook. Staff were not particularly welcoming -it felt like there were loads of rules and almost like they were telling you off when we just arrived!

The location is great, also the facilities were clean and the staff was fantastic
My dorm was right by the street, so I could clearly hear the noise coming in.

Nice beds, common areas and clean bathrooms.
You have space to store you luggage in the room.
After checking out, I had to wait about an hour for my bus in the common area. Reception staff told me I couldn’t stay there with my luggage unless I paid a storage fee. I explained I would only be there for less than an hour, but they insisted I either leave or pay. I found this quite unpleasant, especially after having paid for my stay.

The bed was comfortable, with plugs, light and curtains for more privacy which is very good.
Staff would vacuum the room everyday.
Showers were prety clean.
Nothing bad, but the kitchen was normally crowded (would be nice if it had one o two more stoves to cook)

The price, and how close it is to the bus stop.
There was no lift. Not a good option for people with luggage. If you want to keep your luggage, you also have to bring it to the basement. There is also a foul smell. Kitchen was also not kept clean unlike the other Haka Houses.
6.0 / 10.0
The bed is very comfortable, and the kitchen and dining area are really spacious.
I came here because there was no space left at Haka on K Road, and since the prices here are usually higher, I thought it would be better — but it wasn’t. I don’t know what time they clean the bathrooms, but I never saw them clean.
I wish the windows could open a bit more to allow better ventilation in the room.

Close to centre city for our concert we attended at powerstation. Room was clean and tidy. Beds were great
On arrival at 4.40pm used auto check in but key card couldn't be printed. Reception had sign up be back in 30min but didn't know how long that 30min was. Waited 25min.

My room was pleasant and comfortable.
The kitchen / dining area seemed cluttered…. Could be better to have the areas better separated, so that people could finish preparing their meal and take it away from the kitchen area, thus freeing up space for others to cook at busy times.

Homely comfortable, stuffs all us, and love European culture
No hanger in the room to hang tower and cost.

Always clean, staff are easy going and receptive to any enquiry. A friendly, relaxed environment. Bunks in dorms have outlets, privacy curtains, and are comfortable. No complaints whatsoever

Clean and comfy and people were pretty friendly. They let us sing in the lounge til the wee hours of the morning. Staff made it easy to extend my stay
Slightly confusing layout, but I am also directionally deficient :) Wish parking was a bit easier
6.0 / 10.0
The beds had privacy with curtains, individual outlets, and lights.
The temperature in the room was uncomfortable, it was hot, and the available fan wasn't strong enough to reach all the beds. The hostel's common area was not very conducive to creating an atmosphere for meeting and interacting with other people.

Nothing.
I did not like staying ay this property as a female solo traveler I did not feel safe here! Due to the location of this hostel (which I was unaware of when booking) the hostel is on an extremely rowdy and dangerous street. The whole night I could barely sleep because of how loud the bars are, the people and the street fights. I was woken up at 4 in the morning because I heard gun shots on the street. Other than the street not being safe, the beds were also very dusty and old and the curtains do not block out any light. There is also no space in the kitchen for you to store your food. I have stayed with Haka house many times but this was an extremely disappointing stay and so I checked out early. I would not recommend this place to anyone especially women!

The sheets and linens are pristine. Very clean and no old cabinet smell. Or whatever smell. The place itself is quiet. Though outside is another story.
Some rowdy outsiders were just making noise like cray cray. But no fault of Haka. This place is located along Kroad. So when party time comes, people do party until the wee hours pf the morning.

amazing staff, friendly guests, very clean and well kept!
the only small thing is, it is on a hill from the main centre, but if you don't mind a wee walk (or an e-scooter) then you'll be fine

The curtain in the beds are very convenient, with your own light which gives you some privacy. The kitchen and lounge are also nice and well equipped.
THE DORM’S DOORS!!!! OMG!!! They have this shutting mechanism that is just HORRENDOUS! No matter how gentle you are, the door slammed in such a violent and noisy matter that anyone coming in or out of the bedroom will wake you up! THEY SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!! It is something will stop me from staying there again!

Loved the bed. Good firm mattress. Great to have a fan so I could close the window. Love the exposed brick wall in the room I stayed in. Great location if you are wanting to walk to cafes/bars/restaurants or want to enjoy a bit of night life. Will definitely stay again.
I have stayed a few times before and know to expect noise, but to anyone expecting a quiet night on K Road, it wont happen as there is always something going on and you can hear it all through the night so maybe pack some earplugs or put your ear buds in. Not the lodges fault obviously. There was a bit of smeared paint on the carpet, but it looked as if it was just re-painted recently, so most likely a contractor that hadn't quite covered up the area.

The room was comfortable and a decent size. Location was not too far from the main city. Very basic set up but nice.

One of the most welcoming hostels in Auckland. Staff are simultaneously professional and down-to-earth. Abundant kitchen space with a plethora of whiteware, stove hobs, and appliances. Significant food storage space. Comfortable lounge. There's also a pool table in the basement. Clean facilities. Sturdy bed frames with access to storage (bring your own large padlock). Good atmosphere - a comfortable mix of keeping to yourself while having the option to socialize. There is a door code that changes regularly so no randoms can just walk in - I experienced this at previous hostels so I was relieved to see this security feature in action.
The bed storage could definitely be more secure - the bolt sliders need to be adjusted and hinges need to be added. I could simply move the whole panel - with the bolt remaining locked with a padlock - and (with a little difficulty) remove the panel to access my belongings. Room 19, bed E.
However, I am being devil's advocate as it would be pretty obvious to anyone in the room that the storage is not yours if you tried this. Although, you can often just be the only one in an 8 bed dorm.

- Friendly and helpful staff
- late check in available
- clean, well stocked kitchen
- bad smell in top floor showers. I opted to shower elsewhere.
- incredibly rough location. I didn’t feel safe going he outside the hostel alone at night. Lots of homeless and drug addicts hanging around. A fatal shooting occurred 10 minutes away, which has prompted me to check out & move elsewhere.

Really good facilities and I liked the vibe because it's a bit smaller which means more cozy for me. Kitchen and everything else is without issue and the beds are proper and I slept really well.
Sometimes it's a bit noisy from the street because of the thin insulation but I slept good anyway.

This hostel is located close to the CBD in a interesting inner city spot. There is an abundance of restaurants within easy walking distance. This was convenient as my trip with Haka/Intrepid left from this hostel the next morning.
The shared mixed gender bathrooms and toilets were not clean. I knew i was sharing bathroom and toilet facilities, but i did not realise beforehand, that the facilities were for both females & males.
As my room was located up several flights of stairs, it was a wee bit challenging carrying my luggage up & down the large staircases. There is no lift available in this older style building.

Noisy outside most of the night from street people
