I did not stay in a hostel, it looked like friends' house...the place has a PUB vibe and it is really a cool place for you to stat in the summer.
The very high beds that you can touch the ceiling was scary, try to make one reservation in advance for ylou to ask and be sure that you will stay in a normal bed.

cool people, everything you need, hangout room, kitchen, bathrooms, bar
its cold during the night, a heater in the room would be very nice. go showering early otherwise maybe the water is cold. positiv you are very fast ;-)

The Trip Hostel has a very convenient location close to town and close to bus stop, good for short stops in Punta del Este.
Maybe the person in reception should be more present, as couple times I have to wait to long for him/her
