Hillside Retreat – Africa Amini Life

This lodge is here to service the local community and it is gor this reason that I looked this. Staying here gives back to the community. We had the main lodge with breathtaking views of the forest with an orchestra of animal sounds. We saw monkeys and an array of different birds. The vegetarian food was exceptional. The rooms had netting around them and we were more than spoilt for a choice of room!! The staff gave as a welcome drink and a beautiful African song send off!! We purchased items from the local shop where all the money goes back to the staff. Dont waste money buying things after the airport. They had a driver who took us around the area. It was a very idyllic, peaceful and memorable retreat. Great location if you are booking a safari. We booked one at Arusha Nattional Park and saw giraffes, zebras flamingos to name a few. Absolutely stunning view of mount meru!! Would highly recommend this lodge.

There are creepy crawlies but you would expect this in a jungle!

Beautiful lodge. Our accommodation was very spacious with a huge private terrace with beautiful views over the trees onto Mount Meru. All food served on our own terrace, felt very luxurious. Breakfast with blue monkeys in the threes. Food was good mostly. Many interesting birds around.

Bumpy road. Swimming pool is basic and very cold when we were there.

The staff were amazing! The property is rural and charming. .everything we wanted as we started our adventure in tanzania. Also the food was incredible as was the service! Also they took us on a walking safari which was cool!

It was a tad further away from Kilimanjaro Airport and the roads during rainy season and just following that time frame make it a big more time intensive. Just to note ahead of time id you are planning to go out there as you def need a big vehicle!

So thoughtful at every step. Meals served on terrace. Amazing views. Exceptional staff.
