We have arrived here after 12 different Homestays as the final destination of our Kerala/Tamil Nadu trip.Welcome was warm (and the welcome drinks tasty and cold:-)!...I ve left a valuable item at our earlier Homestay and the manager immediatley helped me out from this problem - even took me back from that placewith his own scooter !! It was something unforgettable-a great support! This property located in Mararikulam -VERY close to the famous Marari Beach (ca 2-300 m) in a green garden. Surrounding were silent -a fishing village with lots of nice people. A couple of minutes from the local Bus stop and small shops/supermarket. We ve got an apartment on the 1st floor with a small balcony-arnchairs. 2 bikes (pretty new ones) onsite and in our case free to use throughout the day! It was great for exploring the neighbouring sites-beaches-shopping etc. WiFi was good! (once because some reparations weak signalling when we ve automatically been offered a smart hot spot device by the owner himself without asking for that !! Great!) Bottled drinking water was available every day unlimited! A small fridge in our room has been really useful for cooling our water/fruits . Orientation-information on local issues by the owner proved to be very useful as well -thanks for nice talks/discussions! The kitchen here is simply amazing! Great continental/indian breakfasts offered and the dinner....really stunning! A great variety of indian dishes nicely served-cooked fresh by the wife (Maya-she is a GREAT cook! Everything well done and VERY tasty!!) of the manager The menu has been discussed in the morning hours meaning that all the ingredients has been bought freshly on the same day from the market-fishermen etc. A cosy pool in the middle of the garden -between 2-5 pm very refreshing when extremely hot at the beach-then we had been heading to the beach and swimming..waiting for the sunset (do not miss it by the way-beautiful!

A bit more clean and better maintained bathroom would ve been nice to keep up with the abovementioned facilities and services in our opinion (really not a big deal and absolutely have not too much negatively affected our stay here-just an advice/idea ....) A couple of local keralan or fishing item inside the room as a decoration -flowers,maybe some pictures could ve made us to feel more comfortable and authentic inside (basically everything is painted in black/white) Dust at hidden corners,on the wall lamps etc. No kettle in the room ...but on request You ll get all the time coffee/tea etc from the "main" kitchen... Otherwise nothing else to mention! This was a great place to stay at!

It is a homey, comfortable spacious boutique home stay just a stone throws away from the beautiful Marari Beach. If the choice is Kerala and Marari beach, there’s several reasons why Mayas is an excellent choice. Location - Easy, 2 mins from the beach. There is a snug pool in the property which is a nice bonus. Things to do - Several. We did a beautiful backwaters cruise, so amazing. We also did an Ayurvedic massage which was quite unique and relaxing. Understandably we spent the most time on the beach, sunrise, sunset and sometimes in between. Battling the waves for a slice of the shore, but coming up with only sand in our clothes. Deceptively long walks on the beach while we watched rows and rows of people floored by the strong waves. Food - It was a traditional home cooked food affair in Mayas, by the namesake. Words are deficient in enabling description. She carefully conspires to create a new menu with delectable food, a everyday better than before. It’s strictly South Indian but is never a concern. Fried Banana, some 4 million types of fish preparation, b**f curry, some dynamite cauliflower dish, several prawn dishes and mussels, the payasam. All this with a face with glee and generosity and a smile of a child. Hosts - The experience of the place was complete only because of the beautiful hosts. They know everything about everything in Kerala. They can and want to help set up all the stuff that’s there to do in the area. They happily recall all their guest experiences with so much detail that it is clear that they really love what they are doing. They accommodate all the requests without a fuss and without much of a notice. It was a great pleasure meeting this wonderful couple. I can’t vouch for this place enough. It will be a sin to miss it when the choice is Kerala and Marari. 

Very amenable host. Good location near to the beach. Comfortable room.

Lack of facilities. Not much choice with the food. All of which wouldn’t be a problem but for the prices charged.
