Villa Hostalet

Very spacious villa with generously proportioned bedrooms and a large outdoor veranda for al fresco meals. Swimming pool was lovely - very clean and well- maintained. Villa sits in its own well kept grounds and is not overlooked and the nearest neighbour is another villa a long way down the same access drive far enough away not to present any problem. A/C in 3 of the 4 bedrooms works well.

Kitchen could do with an upgrade. Not many cupboards free for food storage. Slightly odd layout all along one wall. Very minimal provision of 1 fresh sponge scourer. Only a nearly-empty washing up liquid bottle. No dishwasher tablets. Dishwasher was out of salt and rinse aid. No instructions about how or where to deal with rubbish and recycling. Door between kitchen and veranda has a large pane of glass which felt as if it would shatter easily if the door slammed. We were without running water for most of our last day which was a shame. The pump had malfunctioned apparently. Plumber arrived very quickly but repair took a long time. Beds were a bit saggy and could do with replacing. No info folder provided of local places of interest, things to do, recommended restaurants etc. A busy main road is not far away ‐ during the main part of the day this was not noticeable probably due to sound travelling differently in heat plus noise of cicadas. However in the early morning and late evening noise from the road was audible. Interior of villa overall feels rather tired and in need of upgrading.

A wonderful old Finca in its own grounds with no immediate neighbours..

It's rather expensive and it would benefit from some sympathetic rustic style upgrading that retain its character. Much of it is tired now , especially the kitchen appliances , the downstairs bathrooms and outdoor furniture. Its like the property has a shabby 1990's farmhouse vibe. There are alternative villas for around a similar rental cost that are absolutely spectacular , so Hostalet really does need some investment to compete at this price point.

Location and speed of putting a few things correct such as cleaning after we arrived and removal of two wasp nests.

It needed an upgrade as certain things need to be replaced. The owners may benefit by staying at the property to witness the few things that need doing. A chopping board would be good and replacement of the old and somewhat dirty dishwasher and attention to loose wiring on or around the beds
