Dantica Cloud Forest Lodge

Great location for a couple of nights and well appointed lodge with lovely views. A great start to our Costa Rica trip. Lots of birds all around including your veranda and the lodge was really quiet. We did a nature tour for three hours with a great guide and learnt a lot. Few mammals seen but lots of birds which is the highlight of this area even you are not a twitcher (we aren’t). Food was good and staff friendly

Nothing specifically. Our only grumble is the transfer to Sierpe - it was the most expensive transfer we did per distance / duration by a mile and the vehicle was the lodges, pretty basic and with no a/c so it felt expensive and not good value (relative to other transfers). The driver was also in a rush and impatient at times - he was the worst driver we experienced all holiday. We highly recommend Eagle Transfers - much friendlier drivers, often they are guides, and far better vehicles (they could not service this route sadly)

The food at Dantica Cloud Forest was great no complaints at all. The lodge we stayed in was old and outdated for me personally. Yes it had a heater if you were cold and air conditioning if you were hot. You had free water one small bottle per day but had to pay for coffee or hot chocolate which I find bizarre. Yes there was alcohol in a mini bar fridge but chargeable which I do understand. The bed was very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep, you are in the middle of know where with a fantastic view but thats it really. We do recommend going to Miriams Cafe just up the road, we saw more birds at the back of her cafe than we have at Dantica.

Mould on curtains mould on walls which puts you off because you really don't know how clean it is really. The bathroom is painted in black which i presume is to cover up the mould and the lighting in the bathroom is awful. The water for the shower kept going hot one moment and cold the next and the bathrooms are very cold anyway so puts you off having a shower.
