Império do Rei Boutique Hotel

The hotel has recently been renovated and is modern, spotless, and very comfortable. It may be simple, but it has everything you need for a great stay. The breakfast was excellent, and the breakfast staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Overall, fantastic value and a lovely experience.

The only minor downside was that I couldn’t check in before 15:00. I completely understand that’s the standard check-in time, but I was attending an event and had hoped an earlier check-in might have been possible. Overall, I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it. Thank you!

parked outside, was quiet enough and short walk to town centre

Centrally located close to several bars and restaurants. The room was very pleasant and the double bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was good with lots of choice. Parking near the hotel can be tricky as it does not have its own private car park.

Nothing

The room is spacious, there is a desk and chair. Breakfast is pretty much what you get in similar places when the constituents of the fare are at the basic end of the scale. Wi-Fi works well in the room, car parking easy enough within 100 meters. Beds towards the hard variety, so be prepared to remake the bed with a blanket or two underneath. So this place is just ok.

We ordered a twin room, and stated a preference for no stairs. Upon arrival we soon discovered that a twin room on the ground floor was quite a downmarket version compared to the photos on the website. OK, we got it changed to a first floor room, and rather lucky one was still available. Of course we had to negotiate the steep flight of stairs, but there you go. The rooms, and Hotel generally have seen many years of use. It’s clean enough, but things you use and touch like the carpet you walk on, the curtains, TV, AC, wardrobe, and so on have all seen better days. Not so cheap either.
