Castello Vicchiomaggio

Stunning location and surroundings, beautiful rooms and good food at the restaurant. Delphina stood out as super helpful when we had transport issues! Food and wine were outstanding as expected. Pool was lovely.

Unfortunately it was a catalogue of events that impacted our stay; the power and water the rooms went so we had to move rooms to the main building, having only a one night stay this really did spoil it as we had to repack and hike cases across the grounds as there was no assistance and it was incredibly hot. The mosquitoes really are a problem here so we couldnt enjoy dinner outside and ended up having to go the room so we couldnt enjoy the ground. The restaurant does not open every evening which we didnt know until the night before and whilst the team can arrange a picnic basket it wasnt ideal. We did get our drinks and basket free for the inconvenience to be fair to the team and they tried their best, just a shame as the place is incredible.

It’s a beautiful Castello. Having dinner there and wine tour was very nice.

It’s not clear on Booking we are gonna be in 2 separate buildings on the opposite sides with lots of stairs, keys and locks in between. I would not recommend it for kids and older people. AC was also not working in one of the rooms and it was unbearable night for us and our small child on 40 degrees. Sorting the transfer to new rooms was quite unpleasant due to some rude remarks from staff that treated the situation as very annoying for them. No one helped us with 5 pieces of luggage moving up and down for 2 days with 2 older people and a small child. Overall you can come here and enjoy a lovely dinner or tour but you can get much higher value for money in villas around.
