Hanayashiki Ukifune-en

Ryokan idéalement placé au bord de la rivière, avec vue sur les ponts. On dirait une estampe d'Edo ! Belle chambre et petits-déjeuner copieux. Bains tranquilles à l'étage. A 2 pas du temple byodoin. A 10 minutes de la gare et 20 minutes en train de Kyoto: une bonne alternative pour éviter de loger à Kyoto et éviter la foule.

Sehr freundliches Personal, das Zimmer war sehr geräumig und sauber. Ich hatte einen wunderschönen Blick auf Uji Fluss aus meinem Zimmer. Die Lage war auch super, wenige Gehminuten zum Byodoin Tempel und 15 Gehminuten zum JR Bahnhof Uji.

Das Hotel ist in die Jahre gekommen, manche Sachen wirken altmodisch. Aber alles hat prima funktioniert

The public baths were spacious, clean, and absolutely a joy to use. And the view from the room was perfectly peaceful. Couldn't wake up to a better view. Plus the futons were cozy and far exceeded my expectations in comfort. We've had worse beds in actual modern hotels.

The in-room toilet room could do with a little modernization. They're not completely terrible. They still have the bidet and heated seats, but they don't compare to a public toilets found in malls in the bigger cities for example. Understandably though, this is a ryokan, and was a simpler room which has a more traditional Japanese appeal so I expected things to be a bit less modern. Definitely not a deal breaker. Local walkable restaurant and convenience stores were also a bit sparse. The restaurants near aren't bad, just there's less choices to make compared to a larger city where there's endless options.

The location on the river is very good, near to temples and quiet.

Facilities are outdated, bathrooms are old but function Ok, carpets in corridors are stained. Our room and tatami were clean. Breakfast was not good. I had to claim for free coffee, no black tea, this hotel is not for foreigners. See picture from the outside about building condition.
