Pensión Macarena

Nice and clean accomodation, good location. It reminded us a bit of the typical riads in Morocco. Nice hosts.

Bathroom was not in the room, but it bothered us less than we had expected. It was very clean and modern, nothing to complain. It can become challenging when there are more guests, but we were lucky to have it for ourselves only. Maybe the only things that bothered us a bit were that we had to leave the key at the reception every time we left. And as a suggestion, maybe you can replace the artificial plants in the vases, they were very clingy every time we crossed the hallway. Other than that, overall it was an accomodation that I recommend for lower budget.

Everything was above standard.

The place was lovely and charming, with a beautiful architecture, as well as the people working there, they were super nice and helpful (Pepe and Puma were a very nice and pleasant surprise). The pension has an incredible atmosphere, I barely saw any of the other guests and the place (bedroom, bathroom, pension itself) was very clean. I got a bedroom far from the square in front of the building so to me it was very quiet. It’s in a very nice neighborhood, easy to find, close to everything I wanted to see or needed, and only a 20 minute walk from the most touristy and crowded parts of the city.

The bedrooms get a little hot at night, I was worried at first but it was perfectly fine to sleep in on all three nights I stayed in. It would’ve been a problem if the days were hotter. They did have air conditioner on the bedroom but no controller, I’m assuming you have to ask for it to be turned on. I had to sleep with the window open because of the heat, so there was a bit of noise every time someone arrived late at night, but personally that was only a problem in the first night and by the second I was used to it and barely noticed.

The location was alright, a bit of walking but walkable from the city center. The neighborhood was nice and clean. There's an absolutely lovely cat living on the reception we made friends with.

Dont even think about coming by a car and trying to park in the neighborhood. We were told by the hotel staff in advance, that 'parking is possible on the street'. We ended up spending about an hour and a half circling in the neighborhood and then in the general nearby area trying to find a place to park. The staff was of no help when we tried to ask them about a decent paid parking in the neighborhood as they spoke basically zero english. We ended up parking in some weird neighborhood 25min by foot from the hotel and then worrying about our car for our entire stay. Also, the room was quite small, two people and a suitcase barely fit there.
